SOURCE: Rinnai 1004 - Temp on thermostat reads 10 deg cooler than actual, keeps running

The location of the sensor needs to be higher but my yellow wire would only pull out a couple of inches.
Turn off power to unit and remove front panel. Two screws near top/sides. Top of panel pulls out (unplug wire connector to indicator lights) and lifts off bottom tangs. Now you will see a coil of yellow wire inside unit. Remove the wire tie and you'll have enough yellow wire to locate the sensor well above the heater.

SOURCE: does our heater have a reset switch

Turn power off at the emergency switch or breaker. You may want to test the safeties in the unit. Sometimes they pop and are not resettable and have to be replaced

SOURCE: Dayton 2yu62 doesn't work at all

Need to check heating elements and replace if necessary. If your checks are complete that is the answer I think.I suggest reviewing your findings. The heating elements rarely go bad.

SOURCE: Wiring diagram for a Dayton thermostat

Contact Dayton on the internet for this problem. The diagram should be available on their site. Or they will give you a number for customer care. They can give you step-by-step instructions. I am a technician and this is what I would do as their are millions of wiring diagrams. Many are noy up to date.

Hi, I have a Dayton 3ug73 heater. The heater will not shut down after the initial heat requirement is met. I have the thermostat set on low but it continues to heat. I shut the power off to it to keep...

It sounds to me like your thermostat may be bad. I would check power incoming to t-stat then turn temp. setting up and down to see if it is switching on and off. If not then replace. If it does then I would check all wiring to gas valve and if power is shutting off to valve but burner continues then replace gas valve. Thank you.

Just bought a Dayton electric heater to heat a 12' X 20' greenhouse in October. When the heater comes on it now makes a loud sound as if the fan is hitting something. I have it mounted horizonally near...

If it sounds like the fan is hitting something, It is likely you will have to get a step ladder, and look closely at what is making the noise-
Likely something fell in there-- and needs to be removed.

When you shut the thermostat down, does the fan stop instantly?

I have a Dayton model 2e695 electric heater that will get warm but never hot, any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Ohm out the heaters sound like one heater has failed? There will be two wires going into the heater if you unplug it there and set a meter to ohms and place a lead on each terminal of the heater you see something from 5 to 15ohms. If it reads OL that heater is open and not working.

The thermostat must have cost 2 cents. I replaced it with one from electric baseboard, real nice piece. Dayton should do the same.

My Dayton garage heater model 2E636B does not heat up.

These heaters are the same as the marley heater, the element never gets red hot. the unit is set up so the fan kicks on after the element has heated to a certain temp and turns off after the element has cooled. It is common for these heater fans to cycle on and off quite often untill the air temp reaches about 55 degrees and then will operate normaly. If the fan still cycles too often you may have to replace the fan control and high limit switch. These are not very expensive and easy to replace yourself. they arte usualy attached to the back of the element with clips. The luke warm air is what these units put out. I have an equivelent to the dayton G73 and it heats a 24' X 30' garrage all winter in central Minnesota.

Dayton G73 electric heater

I just got my G73.  It comes with a new note that says "below 50 degrees the fan will cycle randomly (and might seem like its not working correctly) but once it is above 50 it will cycle normally."  it uses that to let the element re-heat quickly to bring the room up to temp faster.

Rinnai 1004 - Temp on thermostat reads 10 deg cooler than actual, keeps running

Behind the unit near the floor level, is a yellow wire with a black bulb at the end. This is the actual sensor for returning air. If there is cool air infiltrating the area where it is located, it will keep the unit running until the return air reaches temperature. You could also have a bad sensor but highly unlikely. Make sure there is no air infiltration influencing the sensor. Also, you can unclip the sensor and pull out a few more inches of wire to locate it higher up away from the floor. Tie it up with a wire tie.

Rinnai it testing a remote thermostat but as of yet, there is no plans to offer one.
