Had the same problem when I deleted the photos on the computer. We have a MAC. I dragged all photos to the trash, so the DCIM folder was empty, but it still said Memory Full, even though there were "no files". Finally figured it out, had to plug the camera back in, and EMPTY my trash (permanently delete the items). Now it works again! Hope this works for you!
I had the same issue with the camera saying "memory full" and "no file." It seems the delete button on the camera wasn't really deleting the files, because they were all there when I plugged into the computer. I had to delete them there and empty the trash, just as you said. It will be a pain if that's the only way to delete them rather than in the camera. I also wondered why the memory filled up so fast, but discovered my daughter was unknowingly making large movie files rather than taking photos.
