what model of cellphone you have... and what heated up is it the charger or the cellphone.. we have two problem either the cellphone or the charger.. but i will tell you to look for another charger where we can check your cellphone. A charger must stop charging when the battery reaches its peak of charge... if the charger doesn't stop charging even the battery is charged then it will cause over heating to the charger or to the cellphone...
First Option: mostly nokia chargers doesn't make problems... just try the following.. connect ur mobile with a system (usb cable)... found out whether it is charging or not... if the same prblm appears then there is a prblm in ur cell phone or power jack(socket)... if it charged with usb cable buy a new charger Please change Phone Bettery and check the charging IF Charging Problem not Solved So
Second Option: Your Phone charging IC Fault So Please change charging IC And charging Problem will Solved Quickly
As if your using sony ericsson K800i some mobile phones as this problem as myself also faced the same problem sony ericsson mobile shows this error if you charge your mobile using connector or unsupported charges. You visit your nearest service center of sony ericsson and ask then to give branded sony ercsson charger for your mobile. After taking that charger you will not face this problem any more..your mobile is just perfect as new.Your connector or charger is having some problem with it. Charger may cost you around 300 rs.

If you have bought new battery, and still not working. You can consider that the faulty is in the charger adapter. You can bring your phone to a service center to further check the charger and/or the circuitry of your unit.

New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you start using
your device, it is recommended that you charge the battery. Some
batteries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. You
can charge the battery in two ways: • Charging the device’s battery by
connecting the power adapter. • Connecting your device to a PC via the
provided Mini USB cable. Note: Only the AC adapter and USB cable
provided with your device should be used to charge the device. Charging
is indicated by a solid amber light on the left LED indicator. As the
battery is being charged while the device’s power is on, a charging
icon will be shown on the title bar of the Today screen. After the
battery has been fully charged, the left LED becomes green and a full
battery icon appears on the Today screen’s title bar. Warning! Do not
remove the battery from the device while you are charging it using the
AC or car adapter. As a safety precaution, the battery stops charging
when it overheats.
When the low-battery warning appears, do the following: • Immediately
save your current data. • Synchronize with your PC or connect the power
adapter to charge the battery. • Turn off your device. Hope this helps, let me know if I can help you with anything else. JimmyC
