I don't know if anyone ever answered your question: but I've found that when this happens if you 1. Turn off your machine and then 2.Unplug it from the wall. Then 3. Replug it and turn the machine back on. Something about the process triggers the machine. Don't know how long the "fix" will last, since mine just started doing the same thing. But for now, it's back to responding to stitches being selected. Good luck! ~Wende at Mireio

I have an Elna 1010. I have not used it for several years. When I turned it on and pressed the foot petal all the way down, it sounded like something was going to happen, but nothing did. I am in the...

If you have not used it for several years and now not getting any drive action, then it is possible one of the gears inside it has failed, broken or siezed up. This would be inside the free arm or near the motor probably.

I would suggest that you take it to a sewing machine repair shop and get it serviced, all machine manufacturer's recommend a service every 1-2 years to lube internally, clean out and address any issues. Just the same as getting the car serviced.

My local shop charges $80 for a service/clean plus any parts to be replaced, well worth the money in my humble opinion.

There is a fuse in the the base plate
that has probably blown. It is soldered in and needs to be fixed by a Pfaff dealer on someone with access to the fuse. If you have the work done, make sure they replace a certain reisitor on the base plate at the same time to prevent this from happening again (per Paff). Sorry for the inconvenience, hope you are back to enjoying your Pfaff machine real soon.

I purchased singer 591 from a commercial manufacturing comp. About 3 years ago for my fiance to use. She doesn't need it anymore so I'll sell it. Thing is I can't turn this machine on to show potential...

A 591 is a flat bed industial machine, that came out with a clutch motor. Unless it has been changed to a servo motor. A clutch motor when turned on will will spool up to speed and you will hear it run. A servo motor makes no sound until you move the foot leaver.
If you hit the switch and nothing happens even when you move the foot feed, check your electical connections.

I have been dealing with machines of various types all my working life. I have learned coincidences do happen - but not very often.

My instinct, in your case, strongly suggests the problems are connected. My instinct is to suggest you take your machine elsewhere for maintenance - somewhere that employs experienced and qualified engineers and has a boss that allows them adequate time to do their work properly.

I am completely guessing but if the replaced bushing was broached or line-reamed or the correct service tool was used for fitting, the dc motor might have survived (these are usually almost bullet-proof). I guess if the dismantling and reassembly was suitably careful, the lcd screen would probably have been in the same condition when it arrive back from repair as when it was sent.

My Janome 9000 also quit a few months ago, took it to repair shop and they replaced a fuse. Have only used it about 2hrs since and it did the same thing again. So we decided to replace fuse...

Your fuse is blowing because there is a bind in the machine. Did they service the machine when they replaced the fuse? If yes, it should be under warranty. Best guess is that it is tight from lack of lubrication, usually at the bushing nearest the hand wheel.

It jams up

When that happened to me I had to replace the bobbin case-- (the peice of the machine the bobbin goes in.) It wasn't a Brother, though. I'd take it back to the repair shop and tell them it's still doing it.
