Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I am trying to connect an Insignia flat panel TV to my existing Dish satellite system. Dish satellite system is not HDMI. We have: cable from the wall (satellite) connected directly to the new TV (exactly like the old TV), and cables coming from the dish satellite box to the new TV (just like the old tv). The TV can't seem to find the satellite. We have tried all settings -- antenna (not it of course), cable and cable/satellite. Help!

Hi,

I really need to know the model number of your Insignia TV and which connections you are using between the Dish box and the TV to give you the correct answer. If you are connecting both cable and satellite, I believe it should be set-up as follows:

1. Connect cable feed to TV
2. Run auto channel scan on "cable" setting
3. Connect Dish box to TV and then try changing the "input" selection.

With the Dish box switched on to a channel number you know, try pressing the "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button on your Insignia TV remote repeatedly until you find the satellite feed. Once you have done so, you should be able to change satellite channels using the Dish remote.

If you need further assistance, please post back with the model number of your TV and details of the connections you are using on the back of the TV.

Regards,
BElectric

OK, please can you do as suggested above. 1. Connect only the cable feed to the TV. 2. Run the AUTO CHANNEL SEARCH from the TV menu with CABLE selected as the TV source. 3. Test the cable channels. 4. Connect the Dish Box to the TV and set the Dish box to a known channel number, then try pressing the "INPUT" button on the Insignia remote repeatedly until you find the Satellite feed. If you have done this and it you still can't get it to work, please let me know which connections you are using on the TV for the cable and satellite inputs. Thanks, BElectric.

Set your TV to "COMPONENT" using the "INPUT" button on the Insignia remote. I think you will find the Satellite feed is on this input. Then try changing channels on the Satellite box using the Dish remote. It's possible that your old TV had a different setup method, but this is the correct setup for your Insignia. Your cable feed (no box) should be connected to the co-axial socket on the back of the TV and tuned using the AUTO CHANNEL SEARCH from the TV menu in "CABLE" mode. The Satellite box should then be connected to the TV using a "COMPONENT" type cable and the input set to "COMPONENT" using the "INPUT" button on the Insignia remote. If you have connected it differently, please let me know exactly how you have connected it.

Insignia Ns-15MS0832 How do I in large the TV picture when using HDMI

Hi, On your remote select menu in the list should be something called (aspect ratio) 4:3 , Zoom, Full , 16:9 etc.. These settings should make the screen larger or smaller. Also in the list should be something called HDMI for source connections (DVD, Cable box, Dish) etc. You should be using HDMI cables for these for better quality signal. Good luck.

How do I hook up my satilite dish to our motor home?

Most TVs don't have a built-in satellite receiver. You'll need to buy and install a suitable satellite receiver box for the signals that your dish is capable of receiving. The dish connects to the satellite receiver. Then the sat receiver connects to the TV via either AV cables or HDMI. Hope this helps.

My tv only shows 720p and i am not sure how to adjust it to 1080p ={

You have to adjust the settings on whatever is connected to your television. If you have a bluray player connected to your television with an hdmi cable you should be able to receive 1080p but you have to set the bluray player to 1080i. The tv picks up the signal automatically. From your cable box or satellite tv box you cannot get any more than 1080i from television programs at this time. You can get 1080p from bluray on demand. In certain circumstances you can get 1080p over component cables as well as an hdmi cable but in most cases you will only get 1080i. Once again you have to set your connected device to 1080 to get it on your tv

No sound when dvd is connected to Insignia tv

If you are trying to use the S video you wont get sound . try using a HDMI or the composit cables. If you don't have a HDMI and have to buy one ** don't buy the expensive one as the TV don't know the difference no matter what the sales man tells you** the cheap ones work just as well.. if your DVD don't have HDMI connection us the composit RCA cables. Make sure you are connected to the audio IN not the output on the back of the TV.. use the video 1 inputs on the set they are color coded to match the cables.

this should get things working for you

No Sound In Home Theater with Dish HDTV DVR Dual Mode Remote Connection

HDTV is not carried via coaxial cable from tuner, you need HDMI or the 5 RCA cables that are different colors. I forget if they are called component or composite, I think they are called composite, the R and W are sound. If you run the HDMI or composite cables to your TV, there should be a variable out or audio out on the back of the TV that outputs ANY sound coming into the TV, like Wii, DVD, tv, etc. So if you want to listen to tv sound, just pipe the audio out to the receivers available input and turn it up. Cant be used with mag input (turntable) all others are compatible. Did this answer your question? Sat cables are usually kept under 130 ft from the dish, and the dish receiver can output coaxial signal over 400ft on RG-6 cable. HDMI is limited and can get very expensive. Does your sat box have a coaxial digital out (orange RCA) you can use that if your receiver can read it, usually associated with the DVD input or video input, but only for digital encoded programs.
