Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Hi. We are having problems with our Goodman cacf036b2b heater. It just stopped working. We flipped the switch a couple of times. The second time it sounded like it was going to kick on, but no hot air blew out. Any suggestions? We don't even know where to start looking. Thank you!

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.

SOURCE: ford ka heater blows hot air all the time

Taurus does not use a heater control valve. It runs coolant thru the heater core constantly. You may have a temp blend door actuator problem or a plugged up heater core is also very common. Feel the heater hoses, they should both be very hot, it one is much cooler; you can try to back flush the core.

SOURCE: Bosch 1617 EVS router will not start.

It sounds like either the switch is going bad, or the brushes have worn out. It's hard to say, not knowing how many hours of use you have on the machine. You've already pulled the cover. Take a look at the length of the brushes and see if they're a candidate for replacement. If not, it's not much farther to go to replace the switch.
The only other likely cause I can imagine is that the power cord itself has been bent into the same shape so many times from rolling it up around the router that is has a short and makes intermittent contact. But you say you have checked this and the fault is not with the cord.
You might try spinning the motor armature part of a revolution by hand, so it comes to rest in a different spot, and trying the switch.
These switches do go bad, and that is usually the culprit. The history of the switch seems to indicate it was behaving erratically before it failed, and with new ones costing only about $5.00, I'd invest in a new one, install it yourself, and save yourself the cost of a service fee.
You can acquire parts here, among many others, if you choose to follow that course: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bosch-1617evs-0601617739-router-parts-c-128_1119_3070.html
If you do order parts online, try to confirm you've found the correct part by including the Bosch 10 digit tool product number in your search.
I hope this helps to lead you toward a swift solution. Best wishes!

I turn the thermastat to heat on my goodman gms90904cxa and the inducer fan does not come on and after a couple of seconds the lights blink 3 times

Hello, a 3 blink pattern indicates a open limit switch. Most of the time a dirty filter, dirty blower wheel, weak blower motor, can cause the limit switch to open.

Good morninng, My Goodman furnace inducer stops and starts at various intervals. At times it runs fine but starts the same issue. Everything starts up accordingly, runs and then the inducer stops for...

Replacing the board, flame sensor, and pressure switch, and cleaning out the induction motor was definitely a good start. Other things to check would be a blocked or restricted flue pipe, I have ran into a few bird nest before!, and you also want to check or replace the hose that runs from the inducer to the pressure switch if you haven't already. To be honest, most of the time I clear out the nipple on the inducer where the hose goes with a small piece of wire and it works. The last thing I would suggest is making sure the new pressure switch is rated for what you need. Alot of the revisions on furnaces actually call for less than the original pressure just for this problem. Hope this helps and good luck!

Goodman furnace ignitor works, blower starts up but no flame, no heat ignitor glows then everything stops

sounds more like a pressure switch problem. If the pressure switch does not make, then the furnace will not attempt to light. Its a safety feature on residential furnaces.

Check the pressure switch and hose for obstructions. Clear any and attempt to re-light. If still not successful, its time to contact a local service company to check the gas valves and electronics.

York electric furnace keeps shutting off. I flip a breaker switch

No the humidifier is okay the problem is the element inside the heater. It is drawing too many amps and needs to be replaced. I can go into the reason I say that but would be talking about resistance and electrical circuits. Which gets real boring real quick. Just had the same problem couple weeks ago so it is real fresh in my mind. let me know if you need any more help. That electrical element just pulls out of cabinet and then get a new element kinda like a clothes drier element. Don't touch the element with your fingers use some gloves to install.

My Goodman heater has a problem igniting at times

Hi, I would have to assume your igniter is weak or has a crack in it. Do you see glow from the igniter every time? There is a flame sensor that looks for flame after the gas comes on and it will lockout after three tries, if the flame came on and shut back down every time, it would be problem with that.

Goodman gmp125-5 burners ignite, then shut off after about 5 sec

One of two problems are happening here, your flame sensor is bad, your thermo pile or thermo couple is bad, or last is that the cap on the flue is blocking the exhaust from escaping

The gas pipe should have a union and shut-off on it. Turn gas off and spn out the gas line. Re-install using pipe dope and check for leaks.
