Is it your tension belt? If it is under warranty, call Sears. If not, take it in to Sears sewing machine department and ask a salesman, they usually are good about helping you out. Without seeing your machine, I don't think we can help you. We would only be guessing what is wrong.

Sounds like you've got a thread jam going on in the bobbin case area. Good cleaning and a new needle will probably fix it. See: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091202121550AAHxN8y

Needle stays stuck whilst motor runs. Elna sewing machine

Its a lovely swiss made machine, this is an electronic motor so the needle pressure should remain constant no matter what speed you sew at. The needle staying down and the squealing sounds more like drive issues inside or possibly gunk buildup.

If it was my machine, I would take it to a qualified Elna technician and ask for him to look at it. These machines are small and well made so well worth spending the money to give it a service and get it back to 1000% IMHO.

The timing on my sewing machine is wrong so that it making really loud banging noises does any one know how to stop this

in general, when your machine begins to make the loud banging noises, it tends to indicate a timing issue. The best way to fix this is to seek the help of a service person who deals with sewing machines. a regular service/check of your machine is recommended to help prevent these issues from arising, or regretably something more sinister.
sorry I couldnt give you a quick and cheaper answer

My old Kenmore sewing machine makes a loud squealing noise.

It sounds as if your machine needs a little oiling. If you have a clear machine oil (not 3 in 1). place a drop in the bobbin case area and if you will notice, you will see small holes on the bed and on the top of the machine. place a drop of oil into each of these holes. If you can take the top and bottom covers off, you can put a drop of oil every where you see a hole..some of the machines actually have the oil holes painted a red color. Also place a drop at the handwheel as well. Just remember when oiling, less is better. After oiling, run for a few minutes, if you feel it still needs a litte more, do the same, one drop at a time. After this, if you machine sets for a while, oil just before starting to sew, that way when you put the machine away the oil has been worked through and it should help prevent the squeaking when starting up again.
