Question about ASUS A7S-A1 (90NMVA4A32212CQL300T) PC Notebook

2 Answers

I have an ASUS A7S. It is dead. Nothing happens when it is plugged in/turned on. The power supply works and it is getting power to the board. The main fues may be blown. Can you tell me where the fuse is? I have it apart but have not found the fuse.

Hi, well sorry to hear you are having problems. There are no fuses "per sa" there are however fusible links, or resistors, however these are unlikely to be the culprit. but worth a check, to do this one must obtain a service manual for your exact make and model.
One has to work through a procedure to isolate exactly what is wrong. First we must establish if the PSU is working 100% OK.. To do this you need a Volt meter. Check the actual output against what is written on the actual adapter itself. It will indicate exactly how much voltage there should be, it should be exact. If not there is a problem. If the PSU is OK, then good proceed on.
After checking the PSU, remove the battery, now connect the Known Good PSU. Check to see if there are any LED's on at all.? If yes, then simply remove items, such as RAM, HDD, DVD, one at a time, disconnecting and reconnecting the PSU in between..
If after you remove something and the machine then responds, more, then this is your most likely problem, and will need to be replaced.
If however you get no improvement at all then most likely you have a Motherboard fault. If so and you still wish to DIY repair, then you will have to somehow obtain a service manual, to enable you to service your laptop.
As with anything electronic that needs to be serviced, one always starts at the Power Supply, in the PC, this needs to be checked to male sure all the voltages are correct going out to all the parts of the circuits, and the faulty one(s), examined as to why this is so. usually though, motherboard faults are dealt with by replacement.

My hp monitor is totally black it was working last night. i tried to unplug and replug it in and it came on for a few seconds then went black again

A lot of time people have the impression that the monitor is not working when in fact the computer is not booting its lighting up but nothing else so its stays on a black screen.

One way to know is by opening your speakers or plugging head phones, if you hear windows open or any windows sound the problem is the screen.

You can also unplug the screen from the pc and turn the screen on most of the time the screen while show a disconnected warning on the screen if that comes up the computer is defective.

Two months old dead no power

Hi there,

Check the Power cable of your PC for any damaged or burn/cut. Firmly check the connection on the slot of the CPU Power Supply,

Check the Electrical outlet , or better plug the cord on a different electrical outlet.

If all of this has nothing to do and the problem was still there, possible problem on the powersupply are, it is advisable that you have to replace this part, a possible burnt or a short circuit has happen inside, due to some electrical malfunction on your area.

HOpe this helps.

Let me know for any clarification
