I have a problem with our Kitchenaid Superba gas range/oven, the range works fine, the broiler on the oven works, but the bake setting doesn't, it doesn't get hot the burner does not come on, the touch selector works, the previous expert said it could be the ignitor, the selector, or the safety valve, what do you think?
    Thanks

Usually when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself. The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame. Other causes Other reasons that your oven may not bake are: The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven). The thermostat is defective. The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective. The selector switch is defective.

Hello there:
It won't bake but it will broil please read the entire solution

Usually, when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

works only intermittently, it's probably because of worn or bad contacts in the receptacle that the element plugs into. On most electric ranges, you can remove the element by lifting it up several inches and firmly pulling it away from its attachment (receptacle). Read your owner's manual to learn the correct technique for your range.
If it still does not operate properly, you probably have a defect in the thermostat, selector switch, or common wiring. If the oven does not have a separate bake/broil/etc. selector switch, the problem may be with the thermostat. But it's not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

I have a Spectra XL44 gas oven. The stove and broil work fine but the oven will not lite the ignitor doesent even try to lite up or anything. Do you think the ignitor just needs to be changed or may there...

most likely it's just a bad ignitor, remove the ignitor and check it with a meter to be sure but it's common for the ignitor to go so i'd say install anew ignitor and you should be all set.

I have a Kitchenaid KGBS276X double wall oven. The botton oven works fine. The top oven will start when it's in the broil position, but as soon as I turn down the heat setting it cuts out and stops. ...

so you're saying you have no bake, correct.you have a broil ignitor and a bake ignitor, the broil only has one setting and that's broil, all the other settings are for bake.i looked up the ignitor on the sears site,it costs 189 bucks.it cross refrences to part number 12400035 and this ignitor will work and it's 62 bucks, change out the bake ignitor and you should be fine, you can check it with a meter or turn on the oven and see if the ignitor even glows,it turns red when it's on but even if it glows this doesn't mean it's good,it opens the gas valve by amps,3.5 amps but i would start with the ignitor,it should fire up in around 40 seconds or shorter,if it's more than a minute the ignitor is no good.let me know what you find, unplug the oven before you change out the ignitor

The oven will not light on my Whirlpool gas oven Mod SF368LEPQ 2. The stove top burners still light.

Sounds like you need an bake element ignitor if the bake doesn't work but if the broil also doesn't work, it could be the electronic clock/timer control. the part number for the bake ignitor is 8054129 .Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears.

Oven not working

Check continuity on gas valve. the middle connector is common, upper is broil and bottom is bake. Resistance between common and bake should be about the same as between common and broil. I believe you'll need to set the ohmmeter to KOhms (or x1000.

If no continuity between any of the connectors - replace gas valve (not much fun, and part is expensive).
