SOURCE: Empire Wall Heater(propane) won't stay lit

John Mac here...the solution was that we had shut the pilot off for the summer, and birds had made a nest inside the heat exchanger...coming in through the direct vent. Cleaned out the nest, and it works perfectly. My technician recommends that I leave the pilot buring through the summer to prevent this in the future.

SOURCE: Pilot won't stay lit on

I would check the flue out side first to make sure it is not blocked. If flue looks good i would try cleaning or replace thermalcoupl. Most of the dyna glo heater i have worked on have a thermal pile instead of thermalcoupl. If you have a thermal pile then i would lite pilot and hold knob down for about 3-5 minutes before you turn gas valve knob to on. If that doesnt work let me no and i can give you somemore ideas. I hope you get it working. What is the tempature out side?

SOURCE: Empire DV-210: Pilot light will light and stays lit, but when I

The thermocoupler is no good. It's that bulb sitting in the pilot flame. when it goes out it shuts everything doen in the main valve. It has to be kept hot by the pilot, that's how it know whether or not it is safe to open the main .

SOURCE: empire wall heater with wall vent pilot light

It sounds like the gas valve is dropping out. Make sure the system is venting the exhaust(no restrictions). Then make sure all your wiring connections in the unit are tight. In a millivolt system if all wiring connections aren't tight and clean your circuit will drop in millivolts and the gas valve will drop out. The gas valve requires a certain millivolt to stay open. I hope I was of some assistance!! Good luck!!

So much air blowing in the pilot on DV-35-2SG heater won't stay lit

Unfortunately if its wall vented the wind can hit it just right and pop off the pilot this happens on older models a lot check your vent if its too much of an aggravation you may have to relocate it

PILOT FOR EMPIRE WALL HEATER WONT STAY LIT. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE THERMOCOUPLE

are you sure the problem is with the thermocouple? is the pilot sharp and blue? it is unconnon for the magnet in a gas valve to go bad but it does happen. place the thermocouple in the valve and with it in front of you heat it with a match or lighter for 30 sec. now try and light the pilot quickly. if it lights the the problem would be the pilot, if not then the valve. is this a milivolt system or hydrolic t stat.

Wont stay lit

If dust gets into the pilot safety device called an ODS (oxygen depletion sensor) then the safety thinks the air is low and kicks the pilot off. To remedy it I flush the pilot with a little rust buster. This cleans the dust out without disturbing the air flap. I have repair photos and a neat demo video that shows how it works HERE

Glo warm wall heater will not stay lit

Hi Cindy,

It seems that your heater is not sensing the flame is lit and is shutting gas supply off. There should be what is called a flame sensor, it is a thin pc. of metal that sticks out into where the flame when lit.

This usually gets charred and dirty, if you unscrew it and clean it with a soft cloth then re-insert it, it will get you by. You should get a new sensor when you have a chance.

Good luck and be sure to disconnect from any power source or turn unit completely off when orking on it.

Thanks,
Paul

A short pilot flame not playing on the thermocouple or a faulty thermocouple , loose connection at the gas where thermocouple is ,

Blue flame heater pilot wont stay lit

There is a therma-couple that the flame burns against. When it is working correctly it allows gas to travel to the flame. When it goes out you get no gas, as a safety feature. Replace the therma couple and it should work again.
