Remove the back cover on your radio. The antenna connector is located on the right of the dock connector. Carefully resolder the connections. There are 2 pins (they lead to 3 contacts). Very easy repair, all you need it a fine tip soldering iron and some flux. You can get those for around $15 at wally world.

My sportster 5 satellite radio is not getting signal

Is it "Aquiring Signal" or "Antenna Not Detected"? It could be the antenna, the dock, or the radio itself. For whatever reason, the Sportster 5 seems more fragile in the dock connections. TSS Radio has a repair guy who can fix this issue. You can reach him via email at [email protected]

Hi, the receiver reads antenna not found. I know the radio itself is working as my husband plugged his Blackberry into it and played Pink Floyd. Also, the receiver is not lighting up like it used to when...

If the screen is dim, then try a new antenna. Dim screen = shorted antenna connection. If that doesn't solve it, sell it for parts on eBay, you'll get like $5-$20 depending on if it's subscribed.

Radio shows antenna not deteted or acquiring signal but does not work . antenna and all connections are good, ??

The problem is likely the actual connection inside the Starmate. It sounds like you have tried alternate antennas, which can only mean the unit itself has an issue. What has likely happened is the antenna jack inside the radio has come loose and is no longer making a connection, in which case it could be repairable. Otherwise there are plenty of other 12v Sirius receivers compatible with the same connections if you are looking to replace the head unit.

My Starmate 5 constantly has to acquire signal in my car at home it works perfectly.Any suggestions?

Check the antenna's connector for your car based antenna. Sometimes the little finger tabs need to be gently pushed back towards the center to make a better connection. Be careful not to move them more than a precision screwdrive blade's width or you might snap it off.

If it is reading "ACQUIRING SIGNAL" WHAT CAN THIS MEAN??

This typicall represents a failed antenna with either a loose connection or failed wire to the antenna. The "Acquiring Signal" indicates the receiver is trying to locate and decipher a signal from a sattelite. THe antenna is your first diagnostic. After that the receiver is the culprit. When your receiver is Activated or Authorized it is given a "key" to decipher the sattelite signals If it loses the "key" you can try and have Sirius reinitialize by contacting support. If they cannot send the signal and get the proper "Key" loaded its a defect in the receiver functionality.

Sirius starmate ST2

Try replacing the antenna with a new one. There could be something going on with the wiring in there.

Starmate 4 acquiring signal

With the antenna plugged in, it may take a minute to aquire the signal. If it takes more than a minute there is a problem with the antenna or the reciever.

SIRUIUS SPORTSTER

Satellite radio antennas do tend to fail sometimes. In the early days of Sirius/XM they were made a lot better, but now I've had problems with them a lot more frequently. If the antenna is plugged in securely and it still shows the 'antenna' error code, you most likely need to replace your antenna. It is possible that something else along the antenna signal path is causing your problem - Sometimes the antenna connections in the dock or the receiver itself can cause the issue, but most likely it is the antenna.
