Hi,
My initial reaction is that there may be a fault with the remote. Try playing one of the discs you are having problems with and then remove all remote controls from the room and put them in a cupboard somewhere. If the problem has gone, then you have a faulty remote and you should try the same test with only one remote in the room each time to determine which one is faulty.
If you have eliminated the remote as the cause of the problem, please can you post back with the answers to the following questions as this will help me to determine where to look next.
1. When the scene selections appear at the bottom of the screen, is there a coloured bar at the top of the screen with "PLAY MOVIE", "LANGUAGES", "SCENE SELECTION" and "PREVIEWS" written on it?
2. Has this always happened (is it a new setup?) or has it suddenly developed this "fault".
3. Does this happen on all discs or only some?

Hi,
Sorry, I somehow missed your reply. It's very difficult to determine what the problem is here as it only happens sometimes and with certain discs. It may actually be a fault with the discs themselves, rather than the DVD player.
If the problem persists or gets worse, please post another message here and I will try to assist you. It may also be worth updating the firmware as you suggest. As things stand, I am unable to make any worthwhile suggestions that will help you and it's not a good idea to start changing settings unless it's certain that the DVD player is faulty.
If you need any further assistance with this problem or with updating the firmware, please let me know.
Happy New Year!
Regards,
BElectric

Happens without use of remote and can't get rid of it with either universal or standard remote. Actually has only happened twice with some discs. No bar across top of screen. Maybe I need to update firmware of player?
