Question about HP Scanjet G4010 Flatbed Scanner

Hi: I have a 'all in one' HP C6280, and a HP scanjet 4010. They don't want to co-operate. Now I find that I really need to use the G4010. (I had just stopped using it). At first I thought I should reload the soft ware. The computer says that it is alredy loaded. The troubleshoot on line says to go to 'start' and hp solution centre, but it only recognizes the C6280. If I turn the C6280 off, and then turn the G4010 on, and restart the computer, I can do a normal scan, but, I cannot use the negative scanning part, and that is what I need. Any thoughts?

Go to the Device manager and delete ( not only uninstall ) driver for G4010 .
Now unplug unit . Go to Controm Pannel \ programs and delete the software . You can also and preferably use a cleaning tool such as Revo Uninstaller .
Reboot but do not connect scanner yet . Reinstall software driver .
Reboot and wait for OS to be settled .
Connect your scanner and wait for confirmation of successfull operation It should work now , presuming you haven't changed your OS since before .

What OS is your computer running? If you mean the ScanJet G4010, the available drivers are here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3236365&locale=en_us&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=3236364&prodTypeId=15179 . Select your OS and then choose from the available drivers for that OS. If you want to use the buttons on the scanner to launch scans, get the Full Featured Software. You'll need to set up the software to set the defaults for the buttons. I recommend launching a scan from the computer first before attempting to set the software.

HP also has links to order a replacement driver CD available from the same set of pages.

you need a driver to do this, you can see this on the cartoon/box of your scanner or go to the nearest service center of HP. thanks

Make sure that the driver for your printer has been installed. There is a CD that comes with this scanner. Make sure to use that and install all necessary software.

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
and enter 'g4010' and do the search.
Select the 'linux' Operating System.
Download the device-driver, if there is one available.

I just pulled it out of the box. Popped in the CD, it gets 3/4 free and says 'you need to unistall the program... it will work but you won't have the full benefits of the program.' I then reboot, it
