Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

My ps3 does not read the discs anymore. I bought a new one thinking that it might be the games not working since I had the system in the car a while but that is not it. My ps3 does not want to read discs. How can I fix that problem?

You need to purchase a lazer disc cleaner it looks and works just like a normal dvd disc but it has brushes on it that when put through the player brushes the dust of the laser lens this needs to be done on a regular bases to keep your lazer working to its optimum level and hense fixing your problem.

My playstation 3 will not play my game anymore this just happend out of nowhere

If the ps3 will not read any game or movie but the system it self still turns on it very possible that its your PS3 disc drive or more specifically your drive laser. You can buy a completely new drive or just the laser. The drive can be bought for around $50 or so and the laser for around $30-40. You can also find a tutorial all over youtube.com on how to install the new drive/laser. Hope this helps

Unable to read any discs

Try keeping off your system for 10-15 minutes and try again. If problem exists go to the shop from where you bought your PS3 and ask them for replacement of your drive or your drive lens. I think drive sounds better.

My ps3 wont read disc anymore...what could the problem be?

that means that the laser lens in your ps3 is messed up. you can either:
1.open ps3 and clean the lens
2.buy new laser lens on amazon.com,ebay.com,and other web sites for around $50-60.
3.send in ps3 to sony to get a refurbished system for $150
4.buy a new system
i hope i helped let me know how it works

Ps3 wont read disks

well the best way i know is to do the PS3 exchange program with Sony its only $150 to send yours in and get a refurbished one back, if you think about it the average blue ray drive will run you around $150 so you are better off in the long run to send the thing in for the exchange program...
hope this helps you a bit, oh and better stay away from FFA 08 thats what killed a friends PS3...

Read disc error

Same problem here, your only option is to send it in to sony.  I'm about to click submit with my card information to pay the fee.  Mine reads everything but blu ray games and movies.  If yours is over a year old it's probably out of warranty like mine unless you bought the extended warranty.  For you crlnmcgrth, i would check and see if you can find out when you bought yours exactly.  If you are still under warranty sony will fix it for free or send you another system identical to yours for free.  Call 1-800-345-sony.  They open at 9 am est or 6 pst. Hope this helps.

Ive done most all i can do...

if you bought this new ti shouldn't really be doing this, I would take it back, but however, if it isn't playing anything at all and it isn't new try restoring it to factory default.

To bring the PS3 to factory settings, you need to use the reset to facorty deafults in the system settings menu, not the restore system under backupdefaults.

you will lose all data because it will fomat the hard drive. I think this might be your best option.

Good luck I hope this works
