Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have tried Skype on my computer several times with an international friend. We can see each other, and he can hear me, but I cannot hear him at all. It seems ridiculous for him to call me so that we can actually talk! I have a Logitech webcam which seems to work fine. I've tried running the sound checks and all seems to be okay. Please help! Thanks.

The problem may be his microphone or his setup and not yours - he needs to run an audio check with his Skype account.

When on skype the person i am calling cannot hear me but i can hear them

It sounds like your microphone settings may be incorrect. Make sure if your computer has an internal microphone that the settings are set to use the correct device. You can check in the Skype preferences.

If you have an external microphone (one you must plug in to the computer) try testing it on another computer to make sure it has not malfunctioned.

I have a toshiba Laptop, and I have skype and oovoo downloaded on my computer, I want to know my Microsoft NX-3000 webcam, will not work! I just bought it today, this is the second webcam I had problems...

Sounds like the settings in the skype are wrong, you need to go into the tools - settings or properties. test the video there make sure you see yourself there, if you don't see yourself in the skype video settings page then its not working, also go to the sound settings, make sure the green bar moves when you speak, if it does not move the settings are wrong, you need to select the right microphone from the available on ths list there on the audio settings page in skype.

Weird Noise

If the internal microphone is still "on", then it could be picking up internal sounds resonating within the computer when the fan kicks on, hard drive clicks and clunks, ect.

See if you can disable the internal microphone in the system settings.

HOW CAN CHAT LIVE

Normal 0 Normal 0 First, download SKYPE If you are using SKYPE from this site ( http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/beta/ ) and install it. Then let all your family and friends know you’re on Skype and give them your ID. After they get on Skype and you know their ID's add them to you Contacts in Skype. After you connect up with them you can turn on the camera on so they can see you. Skype is a free download and free to converse by computer without paying and several people at a time.. It only costs if you call a telephone number from your computer while on Skype. Once you get the hang of it , you will enjoy it.

Hope this helps, Bud.

Skype microphone

When you are installing the skype software, there comes a time when skype will offer you the option to test your hardware. Here you will try out the speakers and mic, and skype will tell you if they are in skype accepted order.
My friend actually installed it not too long ago, and after the install, I saw that skype gave him the option to make a test call right on the program interface window. We used it, and it made a call to a skype computer voice which advised us that if we could hear her talking, then our speakers are fine, and to now go ahead and speak into our mic, if the mic is working we will be able to hear what we just said into it.
That was a great little way to make sure our speakers and mic were in fact working, and they were.
Try that out on your pc and your friend's pc to test components individually. If you are unable to find the test call option, or the option to test components, you can uninstall skype and reinstall the latest version, which may not be a bad idea to preclude any other weird problems which may be at fault.
Hope that helps.
