Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I have a TA Adler-Royal 1123 PD nova printing calculator. (It is very old.) The numbers printed on the tape are very faint. Do I need a new ribbon or something else? Is there such a thing as an ink roller for this model? I am not sure I picked the correct category of expert. You do not have one for office machines or calculators.

Hi,
You need a new ribbon.
Older or much older desk top calculators used a small sized ribbon such as the old typewriters used except that the reels were about 1 inch across. Often they were divided into a red and black side.
It the calculator had all of the numbers strike the paper at the same instant, then it would use an
ribbon.
Here is a link to an Amazon.com page that sells the correct ribbon for your calculator.

Hope this helps,

My bag style RY7500 Vacuum has a broken hose.. i can't find the part to replace anywhere online. Also don't know how to remove/replace.

You don't mention where it broke. Is it broken off at the very end or in the middle somewhere. If the ends are still OK and you love that vac, you can fall back on an old trick used by the military in WWII - duct tape! Find another vac hose the same diameter (any vacuum repair store will have them in stock) or you can take a piece of hose to a home improvement store to match up.

Cut out the broken area as evenly as possible. Cut a new piece of hose the same size you removed so the hose remains the same length. Wipe off the edges to remove any dirt. Lay your tubing on newspaper or cardboard. Next you'll need a sealant that will not only stick the parts together, it will remain strong after drying. (Silicone or epoxy glues both work.) Work on ONE break at a time. Apply a thin bead between the two pieces & press together. DO NOT DISTURB but leave the pieces to dry 24hrs. After it's dry use duct tape to reinforce the break (trust me, you'll be glad you did). Then fix the other side of the cut-out.

If it broke off at the very end, remove the hose from the connectors on both ends. Clean out any old hose -if any - if the hose fits inside the connectors. If it fits over a connector, make sure the outside's clean & smooth. Insert/Apply a new hose using the sealant. Duct tape after it's dry. (Yeah, I love the stuff. Saves a ton of extra work by supporting the stressed area.)

If it's just a small crack in the hose clean the broken ends so there's no dirt. Fill the crack in the hose with a thin bead of sealant, dry & duct tape it.

I've used this trick many times, so I know it works. Good Luck!

Hi,

The part number is 1-JR0090-000 and it is style 18.

You can get them at a reasonable price at this website: http://www.vacuumsweepershop.com/royal-belt-18.html

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Royal parts are not too hard to come by. They will pretty much sell them to anybody, but you will probably have to call up a local independent dealer (someone with access to schematics) with your model number and have them look up the parts and order them in for you.

Royal upright handle fork spring replacement

This is actually fairly normal, and there's no real easy way to get that bolt out. Your best bet is to continue turning it as if you were unscrewing it while applying pressure to the opposite end. A narrow piece of metal can help, especially if coaxed with a ballpeen hammer. If possible, you can try to apply some pressure upward on the spring to keep it from holding the bolt too tightly, but this only works about half the time.
Getting the bolt back into place is also something of a nightmare, as you have to use your thumbs to hold the new spring in place while forcing the bolt back into place. I've had indentations on my thumbs from holding that spring many times.

Good luck,

-R

Sanyo vacuum cleaner bag

We have the Sanyo Transfomax 3 in 1 vacuum and FINALLY found that one has to use a screwdriver at the edges of the "hand hold" just above the Sanyo name (between black and green parts), to pop open the cleaner in order to replace the bag or clean the filter.

What a miserable way to change a bag!

I know this is almost a year late...but I just found your request. Ta ta, Rita
