The cable is not repairable. However, if you send the earphones to Shure, they will replace them with a new pair for a reasonable fee.

Hi the wire has frayed and is exposed at the entry point into the earphones to My 5 Series Shure earphones. One earphone no longer works. Can this be rectified? Regards, Robert....

hi,you can fix it by opening the ear that is not working and check if the wire inside the earphone has not removed. If it has removed, you can use a soldering iron and a lead to fix it back.
But if the wire inside has not removed, that means the speaker inside is damaged and will need to be replaced.

In replacing the damaged speaker, you will need to go to any nearby repair store for replacement parts .

If you can not get a replacement speaker, you will have to get a new one.

And for the exposed wire, you can use a gum or a glue to cover it up...

Hope it helps..

Thanks for using fixya.....

My shure e4s have a larger nozzle than other e4s and scl4s I seen. This makes buying comply foam tips near impossible. Is there any chance my earphones could in fact been a variation of the e4s?

I think you have counterfeit E4 earphones. All genuine E4 earphones had the smaller nozzle. Also, on a genuine E4 earphone, the silver colored ring is metal and unscrews from the body of the earphone. If the silver colored ring on your earphones is plastic and does not unscrew, then they are counterfeit.

I need to take the shure e5 headphone apart. how do I do it?

Here is the manual:http://ss634.fusionbot.com/cgi-bin/ss_query?sitenbr=122545578&keys=e5&search.x=14&search.y=8 It looks like the body is a sealed unit. You may be able to separate the two halves with a razor knife but I would recommend contacting Shure first. The contact numbers are at the bottom of the last page of the manual. The service site is here:http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/ServiceAndWarranty/ServicePolicies/index.htm I hope this helps somewhat.

Left earphone is practically inaudible

Hi

If you are good at DIY and you have the tools try opening the Left bud, remove the wires and re solder them back in place. If you want to save the hassle of all that I'd suggest that you get a new pair of ear phones. The ones you have might have lived their lifetime.
