I would suggest you try replacing the dev unit itself. This should rectify the loss of density on the one side. If you need a service manual for assistance with changing the dev unit, try http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com they will likely have one. I presume you have also checked the laser lens to see there is no toner spilled onto it? This usually only accounts for thin areas of blank print.

take out cartridge and look at roller on bottom of printer, clean with clean cloth and try, also there is a slit ( or hole on the inside ( put your hand inside and try to touch the top of printer there is a hole there where the images go to the laser clean with clean lint free cloth.

SOURCE: Black Toner Problem
I had the same problem with my 4 month old Samsung. All of a sudden i had a missing black stripe down the left hand side after replacing the cyan toner with a refilled one!! So.....i uninstalled all the old drivers and downloaded and installed the latest ones.... replaced the cyan with a new genuine toner....removed the black toner, shook to redistribute and put it back.....checked the imaging unit for actual visual damage (there wasnt any!)..... then printed off 50 or so black n white documents. Eventually the 'stripe' dissapeared.
The colour toners were fine all the way through!
It worked for me, hope this helps!

Lines are usually caused by the toner cartridge or the fuser. In order to determine the cause you can replace the toner and see if the lines go away. If not then it is in the fuser assembly and you would need to replace the fuser.
