My Air Vac is 20-21 years old. Recently it stopped running. I found the fuse by the motor was blown and replaced it. It blew immedicately when I turned it on. I think I need to repace the motor. Do you agree and can I buy a motor from you.?

There is no visible evidence of shorts when I look inside the motor compartment. And when the last fuse blew there was a flash inside the top of the motor.

If the fuse does keep blowing yes you do need to replace the motor. I am sorry we do not sell parts though. Try the link below to get the motor.

If the fuse blew up right the way it means that the short that caused the first fuse to fry is still there ..
Check the wires that supply the power and look for contacts or not coated wires in touch with the motor's case ..or such ...If all seam to be ok ..it means that the short is inside and you need a replacement for your motor..
Unfortunately we do not sell parts on this site ..and you should look for a replacement on the support site of the manufacturer..(keep in mind that sometimes the part and the handwork will not worth and will be in advantage a new one ..Just do the math first before getting one ..

Shop vac stopped working

Motors have a thermal safety fuse in the field winding. If it overheats, it will blow and either can be replaced or the whole field winding will have to be replaced. It is wired and is not considered to be a user servicable item.

It suddenly stop working but the light is still on. my vac. model is 116.30201500c, serial no. M51801511

The fuse is blown. It's located near the motor. One side of the fuse goes to the on/off swith and the other end to the motor.

Vac runs for about 15 mins. then stops

The unit is not getting the proper airflow and the motor is overheating to shut down.

You should check/clean out the filter in the dirt chamber there. If the filter is more than 1 year old, you should replace the filter.

Motor stopped running...i have veard this could be

I have the same shop vac with the same problem. I have disassembled it and can tell you the motor core windings go to two posts of what appear to be some sort of fuse, and that's where the open circuit is in mine. (I bypassed it to test the motor, and it started up fine). Now I'm trying to figure out whether that fuse can be replaced.

Craftsman shop vac no power when turn on

I just picked up a similar model someone was throwing away. turns out there is a thermal fuse inside the motor housing that blew. I just need to find the values of the fuse and repalce with appropriate size. motor runs when fuse is bypassed.

Nutone cv353 central vac blew up

My guess would be that the motor is done. Impossible to diagnose for sure without seeing it of course. If you were happy with the unit before the trouble, a replacement motor will probably run $250-$300. If you are interested in a new unit, shop around. There are definitely better designed and more powerful units out there, although some of them can cost quite a bit more than $300. Good Luck!!

My old Tristar canister vac.

If you have a voltage meter you could see where the problem lies. All TriStar parts including the motors, both the nozzle head motor and the actual vacuum motor are purchaseable online through www.totalvac.com
I have ordered parts through them and everything arrives no problem and they are priced nicely by the way.
