Question about Lincoln Roosevelt Popcorn Maker
If the stirrer motor on the UE40010 popcorn popper ceases to work, it is very likely to be the thermal protection switch that has burnt out. It's an easy fix, for anyone with some basic electronics skills.
Just remove the top by undoing the 12 screws using a Philips screwdriver. Locate the motor (it has a cooling fan facing up, and a red and black wire coming from it. You do not need to disassemble anything. Just carefully remove the black insulating material ("tape") without damaging the wires underneath (you do have unplugged the machine from power, right?!). Concealed under the black tape, attached to the black wire, is a white component with 102C printed on it (if I remember correctly). If you short the legs of this component and then test the motor, it should now operate. This confirms that the thermal cutoff switch is the dead component. You can find a replacement part for around a dollar from Digikey or Mouser. Just search for "thermal cutoff" and select one rated for a functioning temperature around 102-104 deg C.
Simply clip/desolder the old component, and solder the new component into place. Use appropriate insulation (heat shrink, electrical tape, etc.) to cover any exposed wires. Then tape the motor coil back up with electrical tape.
