I own a pair of 8 x 40 EGRET II Nicon Binoculars that I've enjoyed for a number of years. Recently they fell from their storage place and now the right and left imiages don't line up. I'm also not sure the facvus works correctly. What can be done and approximately what would it cost??

I would recommend you give Nikon a call. You can reach them in the US at 1-800-645-6687. This may be covered under their current No Fault Policy, in which case it shouldn't cost more than $10 to get them repaired or replaced.

Ben

Unfortunately the rubberised coatings on some binoculars (and, indeed, the focusing and zoom rings on some camera lenses) go like that in non-optimum storage conditions - i.e warm moist areas, such as a kitchen cupboard. I'm afraid I know of no way of curing this - you may need to take them to a repair facility and ask their advice.

I have a pair of Monarch 10 x 42 binoculars with a cracked eyecup. It is an easy fix, so all I need is the part. Can I purchase the part without having to send my binoculars to a repair facility?

Send them back to Nikon. The first pair i had did it twice, then they sent me a brand new pair. Here a year later with new pair the eyecup pieces that turn in and out already have cracks in them again.

The zoom lever is not working moves but doesnt change

If the zoom lever is not working then I would recommend buying a new pair without a zooming mechanism. Zoom binoculars are more trouble than they are worth. Sorry!

The right hand lens came loose and fell off. Where can I buy a replacement?

You can't get a replacement part yourself, the only fix is to return the binoculars to Bushnell for repair.

If you're in the USA or Canada then your binoculars will be covered by Bushnell's Limited Lifetime Warranty; this applies only to the original purchaser and excludes misuse or any evidence of unauthorised repair attempts. If the warranty does not apply then you will still need to send the product back to Bushnell for a repair estimate.

If you are outside north America, then warranties and repair processes may be different and you'll need to contact the Bushnell office for your part of the world.

Note that as your binoculars are relatively cheap and can be purchased new for US $123.39 it may be better to sell yours on an auction site for spare parts and purchase a new pair. If you were not the original purchaser you then get the benefit of not only a brand new pair of binoculars, but the Limited Lifetime Warranty would also give you future protection.

I hope that my reply has been of assistance, if so please take a moment to rate my answer.

Loose hinge _ Bushnell small binocs - 8 x 21; 392 FT at 1000 Yds.

Bushnells are inexpensive binoculars. A repair would cost more than a new one. If they are out of alignment to have them collimated would take time and that translates to expense. Its not something that can be done at home without a collimator. New ones similar to yours can be found online for between twenty to forty US dollars. Binoculars today can be bought much cheaper than a few years ago. If you are happy with the use you have had from your Bushnells an update won't break the bank.

Insta-Focus focusing problem

first open and close the binoculars untill they fit you eye width, now adjust left eye with the flat section located on the center hinge, now turn right eyepiece till clear. note: once you have adjusted right eyepiece you only have to leave it in that position in order to focus from near and far.........good luck......larry@reichinstruments.com
