Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV530 Digital Camcorder
I have a Sony DSC-S800 camera with a Sony memory stick PRO duo witch I've used many times without problems .
Now a message "Format error" appears on the camera's screen and I still have pictures and movies on the stick . I'm very sad .
I don't wont to loose them but I don't know how to do and if it is possible to recover them . I used a card reader on my PC and the message was to format the memory stick . I did't wont this . I wonted to recover the pictures and the movies if it is possible . Thank you for your advice in advance .
I had success with this photo recovery software called asoftech photo recovery...download from
Card photo recovery Software
You'd need to take out the memory card from camera and then connect the memory card to computer as a card reader, you can then use asoftech photo recovery to recover your photos.
If still does not work, you may try to do a quick format on the memory card and then do photo recovery again.
Here's step by step guide which is very helpful

Try photo recovery software to rescue the lost photos and movies, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.
Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)
Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to your Sony memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

In DSCT1 Camera, the C:13:01 error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camera. In C:13:01, the issue is with the Memory Stick being used in the Camera.
The Symptoms are:
Memory Stick Pro Duo 4GB is not compatible with the DSCF707 Camera. Maximum capacity supported by the Camera is up to 128MB. Please try using a MS with 128 MB and check if it works. A dedicated adapter (MSAC-M2) must be attached to use Memory Stick Duo or MagicGate Memory Stick Duo media.
