Hello,

The router default address is one of the two below

192.168.1.1
or
192.168.1.0

I am rather confused why a router would ask you for a ip address I am thinking its asking you for a wep key witch is 9-16 digits witch can be found by accessing the router from the above IP addresses.

1. Then click on wireless settings or wireless security
2. Then the wep key should be found there.

You can also run the wireless wizard CD that came with the router to help you get this done a whole lot easier.

Click HERE for a Very helpful web page that will get this job done!

We sure do hope you find this Very Helpful and wish you and your Family a wonderful Holiday!

How come the http://192.168.123.254 address isnt working?

Find your computer's IP address : Windows 7, Vista, and XP, using the command prompt

  1. Click Start, and then select All Programs. Note: If this doesn't match what you see, refer to About navigation settings in Windows.
  2. Click Accessories, and then Command Prompt.

  3. At the command prompt, enter: ipconfig The IP address (or IPv4 address, if you are using Windows 7 or Vista) will be a series of numbers following the pattern xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (i.e., 156.56.27.32).
Note: If you are using PPP with a modem at home, your IP address will change each time you log in.
Windows 7, without using the command prompt
  1. In the system tray, click the network connection icon and select Open Network and Sharing Center.

  2. To view the IP address of a wired connection, click Local Area Connection. To view the IP address of a wireless adapter, click Wireless Network Connection (Network Name).
  3. Click Details... . Your IP address will appear next to "IPv4 Address".
Windows Vista, without using the command prompt
  1. From the Start menu, right-click Network, and then select Properties. This opens the Network and Sharing Center.

  2. To view the IP address of a wired connection, click View Status to the right of Local Area Connection. To view the IP address of a wireless adapter, click View Status to the right of Wireless Network Connection.
  3. Click Details... . Look for the address next to "IPv4 IP Address".
Windows XP, without using the command prompt
  1. From the Start menu, right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.

  2. To view the IP address of a wired connection, double-click Local Area Connection. To view the IP address of a wireless adapter, double-click Wireless Network Connection.
  3. Click the Support tab, and then click Details... . The window that appears will display the IP address.
Your IP address has to be in the 192.168.123.xxx range

The router must be configured to match your

Internet service. If you do not know your

Internet connection configuration, please

contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

By default, the router is pre-configured with

these settings:

• Automatically set IP addresses for

computers on your LAN (connected to the

router's ports 1-4). The router acts as a

server for dynamic host configuration

protocol (DHCP) and assigns IP addresses

in the range 192.168.123.100 through

192.168.123.199

• The default LAN IP address for the router is

192.168.123.254 with a subnet mask of

255.255.255.0

• The Internet service connected to the
router's WAN port uses a dynamic IP

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

Can 3 computers (1 desktop and 2 laptops) share the same IP address?

No. Each device connected to a network must have a unique address so that data can be properly routed. If you want to share an Internet connection among several computers, you need a router. The router provides a single IP address connection to your service provider on one side. Then each computer connected to the router, wired or wireless, gets its own internal IP address from the router. As data comes over the Internet, the router takes care of getting it to the proper computer.

Every time I run the DSL-504 ADSL2 Ethernet Router CD disc to setup my internet connection, always get the dslultility.exe message say "modam not deteched....." but everything is...

To release and renew IP address, go to Start > Run. Type in CMD and press Enter. At the prompt, type in ipconfig and press Enter. This will display the adapter information such as IP address, Subnet mask, and default gateway.

To view additional information such as Mac address, DNS servers, etc, type in ipconfig /all.

To release IP address, type ipconfig /release.

To renew IP address, type ipconfig /renew.

If you are not able to get an IP address try setting one statically:

Windows 2000

Step 1 Right-click on My Network Places and select Properties.

Step 2 Right-click on the Local Area Connection which represents your network card and select Properties.

Step 3 Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. Enter your IP information for your network.

If connecting to a router, make sure the default gateway and a DNS server is the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1).

Windows XP

Step 4 Click on Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network connections.

Step 5 See Step 2 for Windows 2000 and continue from there.

I am unable to connect to the internet using a wireless connection (signal strength good) When I use the repair wizzard I get a message telling me unable to renew IO address

If the Wi-Fi access point is a DHCP enable router, you should be able to browse the internet as DNS address will be automatically fixed in the Router firmware.

to check what IP address is assigned and more information on your wireless adapter

go to Command prompt by typing "cmd" in RUN.

type "ipconfig /all" without the quote.

you should be able to see IP address of your wireless network adapter plus default gateway and DNS address which are much needed in order to have internet access.

you can still assigned IP address etc manually.

Go to "Control panel"
Click on "Network and Sharing Center"
Click on "Change Adapter setting"
Now, right click on the wireless adapter and select "Properties"
Select "Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and "Properties"

In General tabs, select the radio button with " use the following IP address"

IP address : 192.168.1.x    (if the router IP address is 192.168.1.y)
                                        x=1 to 254, y=1 to 254 but x should not be                                           equal to y )
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0

Default gateway : 192.168.1.y ( IP address of the Wireless access point)

Preferred DNS address : Ask the Internet service provider

Alternate DNS address : Ask the Internet service provider

Click "OK" twice.

Your Internet should work now.

Belkin wired voip iad not connecting to internet with macbook

Try opening the Network Control Panel on the MacBook. Select the TCP/IP tab, then click Advanced. Note the list of IP address numbers. Click the "Renew DHCP Lease" button and see what changed. Most likely all of them did, in particular the "Internet Gateway" and "DNS server" addresses. The first is the connection between the D-Link router and your ISP, and the other addresses are for servers that translate your web browser URLs into the IP addresses for the web sites you want to see. The Gateway and DNS server addresses have to match those in the upstream router(s). The routers must have current IP addresses assigned by the routers upstream, and any client computer must have a current address assigned by the first route upstream. You can check into this by logging in to the webpages for your routers and examining the status reports.

Apparently one of the devices in the chain fails to obtain a new IP address when the D-Link router is powered on. I suspect it is the Belkin router. A computer with an expired DHCP lease will probably be using the Internet gateway IP address assigned to the D-Link router when it was on before (in a busy neighborhood, that address would have been re-assigned to some other household). The Windows system may be sending a request for DHCP renewal up the line, which triggers the Belkin router to ask for the same from the D-Link unit, but it may be ignoring the signal from the MacBook or not getting one.

If the MacBook successfully gets online with a manual Renew DHCP Lease request, obtain the owner's manual for your Belkin router (find the model number, then go to the Belkin support/downloads page for that model). See what settings are available to automate the DHCP renewal process.
