SOURCE: dryer wont start dryer started smoking

That sounds to me like an air restriction has caused overheating.
The blower wheel on these dryers tends to start slipping with age. 528f0fa.jpgThe slipping makes the dryer over heat and cause the safety's to shut down quickly.1b3c53e.jpg 32276fa.jpgThis takes a lot longer for the clothes to dry. aff5565.jpgFinally the limit opens and kills the whole thing. My dryer has power just wont turn on

Might be a start capacitor (located along side the motor, average cost of part around $25.00 AU

To check if this is the case, remove rear belt sheet metal cover and switch on and select a few minutes on the timer control, then give the drum belt or drum (if you can ) and give it a turn in the direction of rotation.
If it starts to run this will tell you that it is a start capacitor.
If you have the ability you could bypass the door safety switch and spin the drum from the front to achieve the same test.
Good Luck

Maytag bravos electric dryer powers on but will not run no codes on it, just wont run

Check that door is fully closed. Or turn on dryer and manually press the door switch to see if that works. If not than it is that switch. A thermoswitch will also do that

The dryer wont show any sign of power. The plug works fine

Hi,

Press and hold start button for 4-5 seconds.Make sure that the start button has been fully pushed down or turned far enough to activate the dryer.

After that plug something else into the same outlet. If it works, you know you have power to the dryer. If it doesn’t work, you’ll need to check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers.

If the power is there, you need to check door switch, thermal fuse, thermostats, and start switch to see if one of these is faulty.
Make sure that the control settings are appropriate, and that any buttons are fully depressed.

Good Luck and have a nice day.

I have a tumble dryer.

Sounds as if the door switch is the problem. This is normally a safety switch that stops the dryer when the door is opened.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the door switch and check the switch condition with a continuity meter after removing the wires. Try turning the switch on and off....the meter should read power on and off when you do that.
You may have to remove the front of the dryer to get to the door switch.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

Estate dryer wont engage

Check the following--

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

Roper Dryer Won't Turn On

Quick check list starting with the most likely to the mostly likely NOT:
Fuse edfbadd.jpgmounted on the blowers housing this puppy is wired in with the door switch. If the lint in the dryer gets to blocking the exhaust then this puppy gets all hot and bothered and melts, causing the whole machine to come to a screeching halt just as if you have opened the dryer door. Clever ain't it? Clean out the lint and replace this fuse.

TUMBLE DRYER WONT WORK

It will most probably be the door switch which is either sticking, give the door casing latch a gentle knock with the back of a screw driver, or is just broken. Try and get to the two wires at the switch and shorting them out i.e. linking out the switch. Make sure the dryer is UNPLUGGED when you do this.

Dryer wont work!

A couple suggestions: (1) The switch in the front may be bad. It's the switch that turns the dryer off when you open the door. (2) Make sure the door latch keeps the door shut. If it is worn and the door isn't shut tight, the switch will not let it start. Hope this helps.
