Squirt a little release oil(WD40 type) on the other part of the jaws and the inner of the chuck.then push the forward /reverse switch to the Arrow pointing forward(toward the chuck) then holding the chuck with the drill in No1 speed gentle pull the trigger until the jaws release and move all the way to fully closed. After this the drill should work properly.
Most airless spray guns spit a bit when you pull or release the trigger because the paint between the spray tip and the paint valve is under pressure but not enough to atomise the paint. If you increase the pressure you may reduce the spit to a point when you don't notice it. A blocked filter could slow the paint getting through to the tip cause lower pressure.
If paint comes out of the spray gun after you release the handle, your problem is inside the gun. If the needle tip or seat are damaged or the spring that holds them closed is broken, paint will be able to get past the the needle and will come out of the gun even when the handle isn't held open. The stock spray gun that comes with the the XR5 doesn't have any servicable parts inside it so if it isn't working properly it may be garbage fodder. If you have an aftermarket gun, rebuild kits may be available.
ran out of water? (if water) > Is there some form of water filter? Problem with the trigger? Bad steam heating element or the power connection supplying the power to it? Of could it just be tired and need a break? (grin)
This is a contractors gun its a vary good gun worth about 200 hunderd dollars . The problem is eigther the spring that returns the trigger _neddle valve to seat pisition is eighter stuck or broken. But if you are haveing this kind of problem it means the gun was not cleaned correctly . Im a perfinial spray painter and if the gun isn;t clean then the mechine wasn;t cleaned as well it goes hand in hand . So what kind of mechine are trying to opperate its an airless acording to the picture and that makes sence . You may be able to clean the gun or get a kit to rebuild it its about a hunderd dollars but the mechine most likely needs to be cleaner at best if no completely rebuild and repacked . If the seals in the pump can put out pressure and the trigger on the gun is slack then you shouldn't be able to shut the paint off because the trigger would be open at this point
The needle that pulls back when you squeeze the trigger is no longer making a seal when you release the trigger. The problem is worse when you spray thin oil-based paints.
Depending on the gun, Sherwin Williams has kits for the Graco gun. That's where we bought ours for years up until I retired from painting. Home Depot and Lowes may have parts.
