Question about ASUS K50IJD2 Notebook

Open Question

I am trying to figure out where to get my driver updates from. For months now, I have had some problems with video looking scrambled. Also, I continue to have problems with the audio not cutting on when I turn on the computer. I have to restart the computer to get it to cut on. This usually works, almost every time. ASUS K50IJ. I have Win 7, 64-bit home premium. Pentium Dual Core T4400 @2.20 GHz. Mine is 3GB. It is the one from Best Buy

SOURCE: how do I disable touch pad when using a mouse?

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting. Advanced users can disable the touchpad from the BIOS setup [press F2 when the computer is booting to enter BIOS settings]

Unfortunately, there are no keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable Touchpad movement or tapping. You can however drag the Mouse icon from the control panel to your Quick launch bar for quick access.

If that sounds too much effort, you may consider adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. This can be accessed from the Touch Pad tab of our mouse properties. Choose a low setting.

I have a HP 6930 notebook with a scrambled display. Looks like how comcast used scramble Pay channels. I tried the usual suspects driver etc. An external monitor works fine.

If it works ok on an external monitor, the driver or the video adaptor is wrong. If you have recently bought it from Amazon (in the last three months) I would return it as "not fit for purpose" and get them to correct it.

The correct driver can be obtained from HP here http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3740643&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4051

MY SCREEN LOOKS LIKE THE MATRIX MOVIE. IT IS

The most probable cause is that your video driver is not up-to-date. Try updating your video drivers as soon as possible. You can download all the latest drivers (for Windows XP only) for your laptop from here.

Download all Drivers for Xp

For other Operating Systems, just search online for the drivers compatible for your laptop model mentioning the OS.

Inspiron Core i5 Laptop. Error: Display driver stopped responding

Hi there!
You mentioned that's a 2 month old laptop,
From what i'm seeing here you should at least have 1 year of warranty with it if you purchased it online,
For the issue you have there,
Might want to specify what video card you have there.
For the drivers, go to support.dell.com then enter your service tag, make sure your select the right operating system, then you'll be able to see the drivers, update the video card driver and the BIOS,
If the problem persist go to nvidia and check your video card if they have released a new driver update,
Worst case scenario is replacing the video card.
Hope this helps!

54inch Hitachi TV has double figures and colors red, yellow-not normal. Set approximately seven -eight years old. Lost remote control and direction book in moving. Is the set worth getting fixed? Generally...

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony2_bing.gif,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer2_bing.gif, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix here

Hp pavilion 9000 gets scrambled screen and fails to start, scrambled screens occour when tabbing out of a game or wakeing from sleep

Sounds like a driver problem. Make sure you have all the updates. If the problem started after a recent update, a driver rollback may be needed.

If it is not the driver, then it might be a setting in the way your laptop handles video. Go into your ATI or nvidia setting under control panel. Review all of your setting and make sure nothing unusual is set, or find a 'restore to defaults' button if it has one.
