Greetings,

Let us hope that the only display controller or the LCD is malfunctioning, take a shot and try transferring the image to a computer (memory card or usb).

No matter what the result is, that camera is service bound.

Keep us posted and thank you for using our service.

Minolta dimage 20, turns on but cannont take clear image

Hello

If this camera is a Minolta Dimage X20, then the problem is probably a faulty CCD, this may be repaired free of charge, I suggest you contact a Sony service center as they have taken over support for Minolta cameras.

DARK PICTURES

I am afraid the shutter is faulty, which means it does not get enough light from the image, however it will still print the image but not in natural light, battery is not an issue here, you can try changing new battery but i don't think the image will change, the bottom line is the camera is faulty and tell the seller for refund if possible.

This definitely sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. If so, Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:

The Dimage models that Sony is accepting for the recall repair are:
Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.

Minolta Dimage S414 Problem with resulution

What you are seeing is the difference between "pixel count resolution" and "embedded resolution". So in your example 2272*1704 is the actual pixel count resolution as recorded by the camera & 72 is the embedded resolution that tells the software (in this case photoshop) what the intended use of the picture will be. 72 ppi is the default for web pictures. You can change this in photoshop by going to the "Image" tab & select image size. The window that opens will show you the pixel dimensions i.e. pixel count resolution and the document size & resolution 72. You just change it to 300 for printing. You can change the default to 300 by going "edit", "preferences", "units & rulers" and setting the values for "new document preset resolutions". This is a complex subject, I recommend looking at the following web page: http://www.fotofinish.com/resources/centers/photo/resolution.htm
