Question about Chamberlain Wireless Portable Intercom System- 2 Units

2 Answers

Unable to establish a network connection between two units after setting both to the paging channel and using the Learn button as instructed on both devices. I started by clearing the memory of both units because I had failed at this a few months ago when I first received the units.

Caroldon - I did as you instructed. I get the confirming beep after connecting with the learn buttons but there is no transmission on the paging channel or or individual channels. I have a third unit and attempted to connect it but the result was the same transmission failure. To answer your other question, these units have not operated successfully since I received them several months ago after several attempts. Finally, we use a wireless router system in our house. It is a Netgear RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR 3500). Is it possible this is part of the problem? Thanks for your continued help.

Hi.

If the two unit do not sync, even after full reset, then there is the chance that one of the two units is defective. I would call the manufacturer number listed in the user manual to find out if there is the chance of getting a replacement.

Regards.

Remove the battery /power and allow the unit to reset . Now connect the units to the paging channels . If there is no locking of the units, it can be possible that one of the units is not responding with a return detection.
If so I would like to know if the units worked the first time you had received them. if not it will have a failure in the trans-receiver section a possible detection or transmission failure.
Please respond .

I think there is not much more than the units must mesh up automatically. So I assume that the units were faulty-- wrongly trimmed to mesh on the same frequency. If possible take this matter up with the store you purchased before tampering within.
Also the wireless routers will havre not interference or effect for the intercom as the frequency is quite diffferent.
Wishing you a Joyous and Prosperous New year.

Suddenly today after working for a couple of years all the lights are on solid and my wireless laptops can not find the router

To connect to your wireless network using Vista's WLAN Autoconfig, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Right-click this icon 5449-001.png at the bottom-right corner of the screen and select Connect to a network.

5449-003.png

Step 2:

Select your Wireless Network Name or SSID then click Connect.

5449-005.png

NOTE:
If the wireless network name or your SSID is not listed, the SSID Broadcast on the router might be disabled. For instructions on how to connect to the wireless network with the SSID broadcast being disabled, click here.
If the computer is not detecting any signal or is not seeing any wireless network, change the channel of the router. For instructions, click here.
If WEP/WPA is enabled on the router:
Step 3:
Enter your wireless network WEP/WPA Key on the field provided then click Connect.
NOTE: To learn more about WEP/WPA and other Wireless Settings, click here.

5449-007.png

NOTE: Make sure Display characters is checked, to display the WEP/WPA key used by the router. You can get the passphrase or network key from the encryption that has been generated (if using WEP network security) from the router's web-based setup page. If you're using WPA network security, the network key is the key for passphrase.

Make sure you enter the wireless network's WEP or WPA key not the Passphrase.

It is also possible to make a wireless connection even if the wireless security is disabled on your router. If you don't see any network SSID from your network list, make sure your wireless adapter/device is ON and your router is in good condition. If your router shows any unstable occurrence, click here.

Hi, you need to connect to the router using an ethernet cable, and not in wireless mode.
If you are using wireless, that can be the cause of the problem.

Disable all firewalls on the computer you are using. Also firewalls can block the network.

If it still does not work it Depends on Fortec, in some way they are cutting you out from the network. Ensure that you are entitled to download codes, it looks like their server is cutting out your IP right after you connect to the network.

First ensure that you are entitled to download codes if you are not this can be normal, after a while they can spot and block an IP. Give them a call to ensure it is not that your IP had been blocked.

If your account is fine, try updating receiver firmware.
Here is the download page

There are three ways you can connect a DVD player to a TV. Component video gives the best picture quality, but requires 3 cables for the video signal alone. S-video needs only 1 cable but it isn’t as good as component video. Composite video is the easiest connection to make, but gives the lowest picture quality.
