Try resetting ur phone by holding the red and green buttons while hitting the reset button on the bottom with the stylus. All the information u have saved in ur phone will be lost but it will work afterwards.

Hi,you will have to replace the flex of the phone. The flex make the touch pad to function,also the functioning of the number keys. When you replace the flex the touch pad and the key will function again.
Hi Bob. If your touch screen is fully functional on other areas or pages, I would restore the firmware. Should take care of that prob. If it is not responding at all, then you would probably be looking at replacing your digitizer.
My local Nokia Care Center provided the easy answer (which does not appear in the owner's manual):
In the Menu, go to Settings, then select Phone settings, and activate "Keyguard Settings," and "Automatic." That done, you must select the time interval until the keypad self-locks. To unlock, touch the "select" key (upper left key) and * (lower left). That combination also will relock the keypad.
