Open Question

Hello, I have the speakercraft Bassx-10 subwoofer and it stopped working. I checked teh power cable, the cables going and coming from the woofewr and the surround system and all seems con nected th right way. It was working for several months when I first hooked it up but has no stopped. The only thing I can think of is the fuse is bad. I checked the fuse, it looks good but I will replace it as soon as I can find a replacement. Can you help? Thank you

My speakercraft BassX-10 speaker gets awfully hot, is this normal

check the max wattage for the speaker, should be on a plate or label. If your amp is supplying more than the speakers rated input? you could be slow roasting your speaker to death.

Which color connection at sub woofer (white or red. RCA ) should connect to the receiver ?

Either one will work. You should get a rca "y" adaptor, at radio shack or another electronics retailer.

Need wiring diagram for bass w x 10

You have not mentioned what equipment you would like to connect to this active subwoofer.
Assuming you have an AV Receiver, you will require a single long RCA to RCA subwoofer cable. Connect the left input (white socket ) of the subwoofer to the AV Receiver subwoofer pre output.
Leave the front crossover knob at 100Hz , Phase at 0. While playing an audio track slowly increase the subwoofer front volume to suit your taste. If you are using big floor standing speakers along with the subwoofer reduce the crossover frequency to 70Hz. Phase should be adjusted to blend the front speakers with the sub.bobhifi_6.jpg

Can you post the markings on the transistors themselves? I will look up what I can and try to get you a more common substitute. Post what eve information you can about the transistors and I'll see what I can find. The model and the output specs that are published for the unit would help too. Thanks, Dan

Sound controls

start by connecting speaker like the book-then you make setup for all your speaker and confirm that all in on status-check your cable for bad cable(short circuit-or open circuit)-you can insert the speaker one by one if you are in doubt that something wrong.
