Not really you can copy the cd over to a usb flash drive--or download the software to a flashdrive

Also you can plug your ethernet wire directly into the laptop--go online and download the software directly (recommended by netgear)

You do not need an installation download to setup the Netgear Wireless router.

http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = passwordYou can now change the default admin password and configurethe wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.

I have a netgear router and a belkin usb network adapter, i am tryng to connect to my computer upstairs but it can't find a signal. The computer upstairs does not come with a cd drive so i was unable...

the usb network adapter probably isn't working properly without drivers. You should be able to get the the drivers for your model adapter at the belkin website under support. Then if your laptop is lacking a cd drive you can just load the drivers on to thumb drive and install them from there. I hope i was able to help.

I need the install cd or a download for a version 5 netgear wireless router

If you connect the computer to the modem , does it works ?
If it works then modem is working. now connect the computer and modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router. change the Internet settings according to the ISP.

You don't need CD to install the router, you can do it without CD also

Cannot conect my Router

1.Did you set an IP address to the new router? If no.
set it to 192.168.1.2 or in DHCP mode.

2. Install the new AP software(i.e uninstall the older version from your PC/laptop) which would be available in CD for the new router package.
This will solve the problem.

I did not get installation CD with my re-furbished netgear WGR614 V7, any clue where I can get one?

That'll will be difficult it doesn't appear they ship out the CDs.

If you really need the CD, call local(small) computer shops ask if they carry the model, if they do, they can make you a copy of the CD for probably just the cost of the CD itself.

The alternative is to simply use the Setup Wizard that's built into the Web interface. Open up your web browser(when connected to one of the LAN ports of the WRG614) and browse to http://192.168.1.1
Default username: admin
Default password: password
(If those do not work, hold the reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds and try again)

Cannot connect to my Netgear WRG614 v6 Router. My Dell laptop shows an excellent connection but it says limited or no conectivity? I have tried several suggestions and reseting several times...nothing...

If you are using LAN cable from your ISP. Try to connect it to your Computer LAN port directly or how you connect directly your internet connection from your computer without the router. Then on your system tray try to look the internet icon activity usually a two monitor icon. Right click on there. Then select status, then support, then details, from there see the DNS number you may get two DNS numbers set then put that manually to your wireless lan settings.

Cannot connect to my Netgear WRG614 v6 router. My Dell laptop shows an excellent connection but it says limited or no conectivity???

if it says limited or no connectivity, it means that there are a couple of settings that needs to be configured for your wireless connection. click on start > run> connections> wireless connection >when you see your wireless network, try to disconnect from the network and try to connect again using the right wep key (if you have it enabled). or you can try checking the wireless properties. start > run> type in ncpa.cpl and hit enter. right click on wireless connection and click on properties. highlight tcp/ip and click on properties. make sure that the settings are set to obtain automatic. hope this one helps.

Problem connecting wireless to a Netgear MR314

Login to router and change the wireless channel on which the router is transmitting wireles signals.

Pretty old router that you have. Ugrade your router and stay tension free with the newer routers as they work fine and have low downtime.

Netgear No Internet connected detected

Are you sure you have a PPPoE Modem? Usually these are DSL connections from Phone and Satellite ISP's... But there are also other ISP's that use them, although a very large percentage of ISP's just use DHCP. Try to set the router up using DHCP instead of PPPoE and see if that works...
To check if you are on the internet:
Start-> Run -> cmd [enter]
in the black box:
ping google.com [enter]

another useful command is:
ipconfig
