Question about Averatec 3715-EH1 (AV3715EH1B) PC Notebook

1 Answer

When I power up the windows banner appears, but after that the video is black. I can hit fn + F3 and turn the screen on and off, but I suspect the video card has died. Right before it happened I was getting some error messages that did nto make any sense. Any solution to this probelm? This is an Averatec 3715-eh1.

SOURCE: Averatec Laptop computer-

This could be a simple glitch, but most likely the screen is going out and will need replaced. Start by adjusting the screen resolution in the display properties. Adjust it to a lower setting, apply, then adjust it back to where it was, and apply. If this doesn't work, then try uninstalling the video drivers from the device manager and rebooting. The machine will automatically find the video and reinstall the drivers. By doing these two, you have just ruled out a software glitch and narrowed it down to hardware, so, if the problem persists, then it's the screen and will need replacing.

SOURCE: Adding ram to averatec 3715-EH1 laptop

Hi there.
Its fairly easy to upgrade the system memory on a laptop, if you turn the laptop upside down there should be a panel with a couple of screws, like this >>>>>>>

Take the ram out and take it with you when you go to purchase your new ram, at least then you are making sure you getting the correct ram modules.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

My screen is black

Turn it off, take out the battery, take out the charger, hold the power button for 10 seconds, plug in the charger, put the battery back in... if it turns on then bingo if it doesn't...
you may have turned the screen off, this can be done by holding the FN key and pressing one of the F keys... f1 f2 f3 ect at the top of your keyboard... its most likely the one with a little picture of a screen... just try them all.
hold in the FN then press them all the f-keys one by one (always holing down the FN key)
Good luck!

The Fn+F3 key toggles between these display settings when you press these keys again.
To the external projector only.
To both the external projector and laptop screen
To the laptop screen only.
Repeat pressing the Fn+F3 keys will cycle through these screen settings again.

Hi, i want to set up cd drive on first boot. How do i can access to setup?

If I don't know what computer you have It makes helping you more difficult.

Here are some options for different computers:

  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F2 button. - Most computers with Phoenix BIOS.
  • Turn on the computer, during POST hit the Delete button - Most computers with AMI BIOS
  • Turn on the computer, hit Ctrl+Alt+F3, Ctrl+Alt+Ins, or Fn+F1 - Older Lenovo.
  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F10 button. - Some Dell computers.
  • Turn on the computer, hit Fn+Esc or Fn+F1. Older Dell laptops.
If you tell me exactly what you have, I'll tell you exactly what to do ;)

When i turn on my netbook, the windows screen will not appear. it's just a black screen. some say it's a software problem. how can i fix it?

Plug a regular computer monitor into your VGA laptop adapter. Hit Fn 7 and if you see the image on the extenal screen your video board is good. You can also tried to replace the memory sticks. If you have two pull one then the other.

My Dell Latitude D630 will power on but the screen is black....nothing will show not even the startup page for windows. What do you think the problem may be

I would suspect either the video card or your LCD screen.. A good test is to hook up an external monitor and see if that works. Be aware that when you start it up, you will have to hit the function key and special function key combo to switch it to the external display.
On the latitude, that is the Fn key plus the F8 key.

I don't have video on my 400sd4 laptop

If the system is booting up completely and you can hear is starting up then the problem is limited to your video.
First try this
Boot up your system so that it's in windows (listen for start sounds and windows music etc)
once you believe the system is fully booted press and hold the FN key. While holding FN press and release the F3 key one time and then let go of FN. Wait a few second and see if the LCD screen comes on. If it does not try FN-F3 a couple more time, waiting a few second in between.
If that does not work then try plugging in and external monitor to verify that the system is working otherwise. If the external monitor does not come on right away then press Fn-F3 again with it attached to allow the system to send a signal to the external port.
If it works on the external monitor but cannot come on the LCD screen, the that indicates a problen inside your laptop or LCD screen.

Toggle Between Laptop and Monitor

Fn + F5 toggles the display output, the trick here to wait each time you hit this combination because it goes through several options. Hit it once and it may want to go to just the external, then both the laptop screen and the external. etc. Now Fn + F6 turns the backlight bulb off on the internal monitor to save energy. Now I am giving up the link to your service manual, it is in PDF format so you can make a copy for yourself and keep on the laptop, print it or save it to a flash so you can reference it later. I believe if you take the keyboard off and disconnect the video lead on the left side where the display plugs into the motherboard, then when you power the laptop back up it will default to the external cord and you can use the laptop without any switching. That is what I am doing with an Aspire 5920 that I am rebuilding. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair
Just copy and paste the link below to you internet address bar and hit enter.
