Question about Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041Notebook

I have lost connection to the internet on my computer. My ICON at the bottom right corner says I have good signal strength connection, but I can not connect. I have connected via hard wire land line but still no internet. My desk top works fine via the land line.

    Thank you for the reply! The laptop does see the router. I should have mentioned this eailer. My other laptop has no issue connecting to the internet via wireless.

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (unplug for a few minutes) try --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---try---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

    Yes, Still having problems but I have had a revelation! I have two users set up on my laptop. If I sign in under my daughters user, I have internet access. Just need to fix my user account internet access. Can you help?

    You may have to do these changes under your daughters account...Go to START>CONTROL PANEL> USER ACCOUNTS

I have a dell optiplex gx520,it is hooked up to wireless connection and it's showing that the signal is good,but IE won't let us view webpage......


can you check if have a valild IP address?

1. Start > RUN > type in "cmd"
2. On the command prompt windows (black DOS window),
> type "ipconfig" > hit Enter
> you should have a valid IP address (something like 192.168.x.x)
• if yes, then try to ping a website
• if no, (you should see somthing like 169.254.x.x), check your wireless settings again.
**good signal doesnt mean that you are connected, it could be a conflict with wireless encryptions too..**
3. to perform PING
> on the CMD screen (back DOS based window), type "ping (space) google.com"
> you should see ping statistics, something like "packets sent=4 received=4 lost=0"
• if 0% lost > your connected to the internet
• if 100% lost > you have no connection
> again check your wireless again
4. If you can Ping and you can't still view webpages using IE here's what I suggest
• Optimize your browser
-delete temporary internet files and cookies
4a.1 Open Internet Explorer
4a.2 Click "Tools" (the icon that looks ike a cogwheel / gear; usually at the upper right corner of internet explorer)
4a.3 Click "Internet Options"
4a.3 Click "Delete" under the General Tab Screen
4a.4 Restart Internet Explorer
• Reset Internet Explorer to factory settings
4b.1 Open Internet Explorer
4b.2 Click "Tools" (the icon that looks ike a cogwheel / gear; usually at the upper right corner of internet explorer)
4b.3 Click "Internet Options"
4b.4 Click on the "Advanced" tab
4b.5 Click on "RESET"

How do i connect wireless internet to my laptop?


steps 1.You need to have a Connection and a wireless router for personal use.or you can try using any open networks like you get in a Coffee shop or shopping mall 2.make Sure that the wireless on the laptop is enabled.This can be done by the wireless switch or using the Function key . 3.If the wireless is turned ON, there will be a wireless signal strength icon on the right bottom corner.just Click that icon that will show you the available connections. 4.Select your network and you will get the connect option

My wireless network connection status in connected Speed is11.0 and my signal strength is good, but I cannot connect to the internet connection godd but internet explorer cannot display the webpage


You are getting local access only.
Right click on the icon in the system tray and click repair....

If it still happens you need to connect to a different network..this usually happens if you are connecting to an unsecured network (I assume yours).

Alternative: Unplug the network adapter. Turn off the computer. Wait approx 2 minutes.
Power on computer with net adapter connected....

The wireless network is very slow compared to when I connect to one of the RJ45 ports in the back of the router. Every wireless connection I try crawls in speed. I have Wireless -G USB adapter in one...

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

Hi Cheryl,

From your cable/dsl modem please take the cable that comes out of it that looks slightly larger than a phone cable and plug it into a port on your NetGear Wireless Router that is labeled either Internet or WAN. After that is done, unplug the power to both your cable/dsl modem and your wireless router. Plug the power back into the cable/dsl modem and wait about 30 seconds then do the same with the wireless router.

Next on your computer, there should be a wireless icon by your clock near the bottom right corner of the screen. If you double on it, you will see a list of connections, yours will say Netgear and should have a good signal strength. Double on it and give it about 10 seconds to connect. Voila, you should be on the Internet.
