  • Atanta1951 Dec 29, 2010

Before I go futher I want to make sure that you understand that the washher pumps the water oot good The spins good at the end of the wash cycle I can force it to spin at the final spin cycle. I cna check the lid switch by opening the lid in a spin cycle. which I will do where is the pressure switch. Note that this problem occurs on all three wash cycles and two water levels water temp warm wash cold rinse maybe its really washing hot and trying to resine cold but getiing no presuure reading it does not run???

Tested lid switch tride to run a cocl cold cycle get no water checked coldwater shut of valve and some one had shut of cold water line whene I did a warm warm cycle it would go into the renise cycle ok I have to button it all back up to do a final check that ,that is the problem

  • Atanta1951 Dec 30, 2010

In the process of invesigating the problem I found that some one had shut off the cold water valve. The reson someone did this was the valve was leaking bad and going out side the wash room which is outside the house. have a plumber coming today to replace shut off valves.in the wash cycle it seems to work ok without cold water but waht is different for the rense cycle?

  • Atanta1951 Dec 31, 2010

The problem was the cold water was shut off, When I turned it on the washer goes through all the cycles with no problem. So I am happy

    Thanks

Sounds like a problem with the water inlet valve. Try replacing it with this part. Here is a video to show you how to replace the valve.

The machine uses the cold water for the rinse cycle. If it's not on, then there is your problem.

Hi.

If the pump is working, then it is unlikely the pump. The pump hose must be accessed and eventually checked for blockage. This is part of ordinary troubleshooting.

If the drain system is OK, check the lid switch and the pressure switch. Those are the parts that determine the advancement of cycle to rinse. The lid switch is tested by jumping its contacts and runnning a cycle, or by Ohming it. The fact that the lock is snapping does not tell the lid switch is good.
Regarding the pressure switch, clean and blow into the pipe attached to the switch. If that does not fix the problem, then replace the pressure switch. The part is not expensive. The switch is also called Switch WL, search this in part list.

Here parts and diagrams.

Here a service manual available for $10.

A: No you cant. That is no good test. If the lid cycle had no contact at all, then the machine would not run. If the contact is bad, then the machine may stop in final part of the cycle, when PSU 'checks' signal from lid switch all the time.

    RE: pressure switch:

THe switch is located behind control panel trim. part is nr 12 in this diagram. THe switch is attached to a long Water Pressure Hose that you need to check.

    Here the pressure switch: SWITCH-WL

If cold water valve is off the cycle usually does not start, as the pressure switch does not sense that the required water level is reached.

If machine was cycling with no cold inlet, then there is an additional problem. Either hot and cold inlet are inverted, or the pressure (water level) switch is malfunctioning.

Hi

When the washer stops at the end of cycle it means that it is unable to drain. To resolve this issue check the drain hose and the drain pump filter for any clogs and try to clear it of any debris/gunk. After it has been cleaned then check the drain pump operation, if the pump won't work then the water won't drain and so cause these kind of issues, if it is not working then the pump should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Seems to be an issue with the lid switch assembly that should be replaced.

Try swapping the water line cold to hot and hot to cold, seems like it is the water inlet valve or pressure switch causing this issue.

First you need to open the cabinet and remove the boot from the tub to the pump and clear the filter. Try that then run a cycle and post back the results.

Hot water stops filling too soon.

Fill setting has to be adjusted and the belt is slipping on the spin cycle and not generating enough centrifugal force to get the water out.

My washer works until the final spin. I have tried every final spin cycle, balanced the load, removed things to make it lighter, let it rest over night, and it still stops at final spin.

Hello,
The PCB (electronic board) could have failed, but there could be other problems which would have to be rectified by a technician.
Hope this helps you?

Machine will not discharge water

Any error codes? Pumps out OK?
Sounds to me as if the cold water inlet screen is plugged up, preventing rinse water from entering machine. Turn off the cold water to the machine and remove the cold water supply hose. Check the screen inside where the hose came off the machine. Run some water out the hose into the drain or a bucket before reconnecting to machine. Let me know if you still have problems.

70 series Kenmore washer

POWERUP, YOUR WASHER COULD BE THE LID SWITCH OR THE COLD WATER VALVE. AT THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE, THE MOTOR WILL SPIN OUT THE WATER, BUT ONLY IF THE LID SWITCH IS ACTUATED. IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, IT WILL NOT SPIN OUT THE WATER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE FROM THAT POINT.
IF THE WASHER SPINS, THE NEXT STEP IS TO FILL WITH WATER FOR THE RINSE CYCLE. MOST WASHERS USE COLD WATER FOR RINSES. IF THE COLD WATER VALVE IS RESTRICTED OR FAULTY, THE WASHER WON'T FILL. IF THE WASHER WON'T FILL, THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH WON'T ACTIVATE AND THE TIMER WON'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP.

After spin cycle washer stops abrubtly causing it to shift.

You have dragging brake shoes. This will cause the motor to draw excessive current. Nedd to take apart and pull down spin tube to access the brake shoes
