The problem is the "tolerance" of the electronic components that go into all electronic devices - your turntables included. Take a simple resistor. Buy 2 (or even 2 dozen) of the same value and measure them with the same meter. I bet you'll see to different values displayed. Next, use a different meter to measure the same resistors - I bet they display yet different values. You can do the same thing with 2 transistors, capacitors - you name it. It's not limited to just electronics, either.

Manufacturing processes have not managed to hit the 100% predictability mark yet. As a result, no two parts produced are exactly the same. No two loads of raw materials are the same - so it is going to be practically impossible for the finished output to be the same. Sure, they've come close - but I doubt we'll ever see the kind of similarity between supposed "identical" devices that you're looking to find.

You may find that "sweet spot" of pitch on 2, 3 or even 50 turntables where they play exactly in sync, but the indicator dials will not be in the same exact spot.

I hope this helps.

This is not the machine that I own, so I would suggest that you find a manual specific to this one and check it out.

Sony disc player just hissing not plalying

Hello, i just found one of these decks yesterday with the same problem. The deck loads a disc correctly, but cannot read the TOC (doesnt display the title or track number)
The hissing sound is actually the sound of the laser lens vibrating in a unfocussed manner
The solution: 1.Use a minidisc lens cleaner if available.2.If not, eject the minidisc and open the deck. Take a good look at the laser lens. Is it dusty or seems hazed over (cigarette fumes)? (Mine was)
If yes, clean the laser lens directly with a cotton swab to which you add a drop of isopropylene (100% alcohol) or (2nd best choice) window cleaner.
Take care to not bend of break the recording head (the white and copper arm just above the lens)
use a dry cotton swab to pick up any remaning humidity on the lens.
3. Try again to read a disc. any success? No? try, if available, a pre-recorded disc
any sucess then? Chances are it might work with a pre-recorded disc because of the better reflectivity of these discs.
No luck yet? Doest it read some discs, others not? well, it's time to re-adjust the deck. The service manual is available here: http://www.minidisc.org/manuals/sony/service/sony_MDS-JE520_service_manual.pdf for free. BTW the site www.Minidisc.org is an exellent source of all information available about minidisc.
First let the deck tell you what the problem is! Page 2 explains how to enter the self-diagnosis mode. Enter the Error DP (display) mode. Look at the error history. Most probably you will find the code E06 (as i did) which means Focus error.
The service manual explains how to enter Adjust mode.
Keep an eye on the C1 error 7350= doesnt read correctly 0-50=adjustment ok.
Do C(ontinous)-play checking: 5-6-5 MO error rate check (Page 38)
Perform focus bias adjust (page 41) (5-12) This is a manual adjustment Keep an eye on the C1 error 7350= doesnt read correctly 0-50=adjustment ok.
Keep in mind that you have to adust the setting "A" with the AMS button to obtain C1=220, and "B" turning the AMS button downwards (anti-clockwise) to obtain C1=220 the deck calculates automaticaly the adjustment "C".
Perform autogain control level output adjustment for MO discs
(page 42) (5-15-2)

If this doesn't work, reset the deck to initial settings / Initial setting of adustment settings (page 39).
Perform focus bias adjust (page 41) again (the deck displays the adress and C-1 and ADER errors)
Check if the adjustment is ok with C-play checking 5-6-5
Perform autogain control level output adjustment for MO discs
(page 42) again (5-15-2)

MO-disc= recordable MD

Hopefully you can re-adjust your deck. You don't need any extra tools for this, the deck displays the error rate. In C-play mode, a pre-recorded disc shows nearly always 0 C-1 errors, a recorded disc should not show more than 50 C-1 errors and no ADER errrors.

Of course this is at your own risk. I can only say that i needed about 1 hour to find the setting which worked with different recorded discs.
There is also the Continuous recording mode to check that the error rater during recording stay within tolerance. If you use this mode bear in mind that the disc will be (partially) erased regardless if fully or partially recorded. In test mode there is no safeguard against accidentaly erasing, so use a new disc or one with a recording you don't care to loose.
Simply unplug the deck to exit the service mode.
Check if you can record after adjusting the focus. Check if you can enter a title to the disc. Is the title there when you eject and reload the disc? If yes, you succeded!
Hope this helps!

Iv got band hero for ps3 and iv set it up and sync them. Da guitar and mic r working just fine but when i try conect and sync da drums it doesnt work. Da lights on da drum control keep flashing. Cn you...

Make sure you are syncing the drums by using the charging cable that is used for controllers. If you plug it in like that then turn on the drums it should sync up. If you are still experiencing the problem I suggest restarting everything and try syncing the drums by themselves without any other instruments, then connect the others.

I hope this helps!

Need to find user manual. I have a problem in recording a tape. I put in deck1 --- cassette to be recorded in deck2 new cassette start play on deck1 ... turn on record and play in deck2 as...

for a start your title says "Problem with the Technics RS-TR272 Single Cassette Deck"
So is it a single or double?
i'm assuming it's a double, right only one of the decks records so put the blank tape into it make sure the tabs on the top of the tape haven't been broke or you'll need to cover the holes with the labels you get with the tape.
put the tape with the music on it, in the other deck rewind them both then press "sync rec" & they should both set off.

My brandnew Songwriter is not playing records properly. When a quarter is placed on the tone arm, it plays fine. Is there an adjustment I can make??? Marilyn

http://www.crosleyradio.com/Manuals/CR248_Manual.pdf
I didn't see the tone arm balance adjustment in the user manual, however that is what needs to be done. At the rear of item #39, on page 10, is there a dial with numbers from 0 to 4 or 5? If so, set the dial to "0" to see if the tone arm will "balance" (like a see saw) If not, the dial assembly (which is a weight) needs to be slid either forward or backwards to achieve balance. After balancing, turn the dial to a number higher than 0 to increase tracking force..keep increasing the tracking force until it stops skipping, but no more than necessairy. To much force causes wear/damage to albums. If there is no tracking force adjustment on the tone arm, I would suggest contacting Crosley @ http://www.crosleyradio.com/Support.aspx
Hope this helps.

Monitor and recorded picture out of sync.

It sounds like the sync pulse is not being recorded properly. I don't see too many PAL decks here in the Us, so I'll have to research this a bit. One thing you can try though, is to play back a previously recorded betacam tape and report the results. We need to determine whether the problem is in the record or playback circuitry.

Thanks,
Dan

I hava a dual cassette deck where I work, Dont know what model, but I am trying to record an existing cassette to another and cant figure it out, can you instruct me?

you have a record side and a play side make sure you have the right cassettes in the right decks, you press play on the one deck and record on the other, unless there is a sync button that starts recording. if this doesn't work tell me the model cassette and I will have another answer for you

Turntable pitch control problem

sounds like the pitch needs replacing or tighting. Get them serviced. Ask your equipment supplier shop. Good way to check the decks are in sync is to place the pitch on each marked seting ie 0 / 2/ 4/etc making sure both decks are set to the same pitch adjustment speed. Look at the light from the on/off switch and check the 4x circles on the deck platter and make sure they are the same as each other. If you never used this before. set your eyes and pay attention, you will notice the pattern. I mix this way to get tunes roughly in time without listerning to the track - DJ EZ helped me with this years ago. peace DJ Nyce
