Check all leads are plugged in the right spots and are in good condition. Sometimes "static" is caused by plugs not connecting properly.

One of the computer speakers I just bought doesn't work. Altec Lansing vs2620. The sound is so faint you can not hear it. How can I troubleshoot this?

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
hope this helps you

How do u take apart the speaker cabinet on an altec lansing ACS22 speaker?

the easy method is to drop it from Empire St Bld.
ha ha ha....
the difficult way is to check where are the screws on the speakers....mostly they are hidden behind the front perforation cloth or plastic sheet of sound out pad...that can be removed carefuly by using a small hook or a screwdriver...be careful not to hurt the actual speaker inside.

Vs4121 altec lansing left speaker wire ripped.

Black should be ground and red is usually the actual audio cable. If you connect them wrong the should not short. They will just sound weird until you connect them properly.

Hope this Helps
