Laptop starts up then the screen stays black

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

Hi, I'd suggest using a wall charger as they're able to provide more power to charge then a computers USB port. Often with camera's the USB port doesn't supply enough power so the camera doesn't charge at all.

Hello, you usually press 'delete' or maybe the tab key on power-up. Try and read the message that will flash up on the screen, usually momentarily, just before it starts to boot. Instead of powering down then back on, press your 'restart' button then you might see the messages that you may have missed if your monitor was still warming up. Regards, nicam49

Whenever i want to turn the flash on, i press the flash icon and it says "macro mode" on the screen.

You can't use the flash in macro mode. Macro mode is for taking pictures of objects close to the camera.

To switch out of macro mode, slide the switch on the left of the camera, just above the USB port, away from the flower icon toward the mountain icon.

Camera is flashing "E:91:01" ON THE SCREEN. WHY?

The flash fuse on the main board or flash board is bad. Contact your local Sony service center for repair as this is possibly a short circuit problem but first try this......

I found a forum that talks about your error. Here is a quote from the forum:

TO SOLVE FLASH ERROR sony cybershot ERROR CODE E:91:01 , JUST GO TO SETUP MENU, SELECT THE TOOLBOX ICON 1 AND SELECT """"INITIALIZE"""" CLICK OK, MASTER RESET AND IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL.

please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA
