Yes, the microwave has a fuse behind the control panel. it can be purchased at a radio shack or a store like wise. Usually when the fuse blows, it's from a power failure or something inside the microwave getting to hot/overloaded and it will blow the fuse to prevent it getting to the point of catching fire. So my advise is, after changing the fuse and it happens to blow again, then you have an internal issue. Parts for microwaves are expensive and replacing it with a new one usually out weighs the cost of repair.

Testimonial: "Absolutely correct solution. Cost me 49 cents for the fuse and saved me $650 by not replacing the unit."

EMERSON MWG9115SL-D WILL NOT POWER UP

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

The unit not powering up is an indication that it has a power fault.

First, remove the unit's power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may cool by then and might power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.

If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.

When electric current comes from the power outlet into the cooker, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the unit. So if the cooker doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the machine.

So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.

If any machine or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

No power

No power at all? ... gotta ask, assuming it is a counter top model...if you plug something else into the outlet does it work? That way 'we' know there is power getting to the unit. If something else works in the outlet, (assumng a 2 outlet receptical in the wall) plug the microwave into the same outlet as the other item that worked. If still no power, you probably blew the internal fuse in the microwave.

That said, they are there for a reason, chances are there is another problem in the unit that needs to be fixed. An appliance repair man reently told me they are only expected to live 5 or so years anymore... pitiful....

Peace,

Model 721.63652300

hi

You can remove the grill on top; there should be screws on the top of the microwave and/or within the grill itself. Then remove the control panel, should be one screw on the top of the panel, then lift up on the panel and tilt it out. The fuses should be visible from there. If the fuse is the problem it's easy to change, just remember to unplug the unit first before working on it. And I would suggest getting a single outlet surge protector for the unit; microwaves are very sensitive to power spikes. Please contact me if you need any more help.

Microwave has no power

Is the outlet ok? Can you plug somethng else into the outlet to see if the fuse or breaker controlling the outlet is ok? If there is power at the outlet, unplug the unit and remove the outside cover.
Look for a blown fuse on the motherboard. Replace it with the EXACT value of the original fuse. You can purchase a new fuse at Radio Shack or hardware store or auto parts store. Try powering up the unit again and see if it works now or whether the fuse blows again. If it blows again, the power supply may have been damaged. Was this a power outage or surge? Was anything else in your home affected?
