SOURCE: Oki 320 turbo alarm light
Check/clean the carriage sensor. This part is under the head/ribbon holder assembly. You should also check the tensioner to the black guide/railings when the carriage assembly runs. This is the one with the gear.

We swapped out the printer for another one we had in the office that was working. The new printer also got the alarm light. From that we concluded that it was a bad serial card. We swapped the serial card from another printer, and the original printer started working perfectly. Now we just need to find out where we can purchase another serial card, as we have no more 'spares' around here.

I just had this exact same problem - same printer, same Jetdirect model. Mine turned out to be the parallel printer mode setting inside the JetDirect. I connected to the configuraiton page by IP, then changed the Parallel mode from "AUTO" to "Centronics", tested it, and it worked fine after that. Hope it helps.

Tips for a great answer:
Bob, Not sure if it will help you now but I just ran into the problem you had. I was getting an @PJL not @PJL but nonetheless...
In my case the problem happened at the same time each day, this helped in troubleshooting. In order to track this down, at the times that the errors occur, which was the same time each day, shutdown/turn off HALF of your PC'S. If the printout still occurred at the normal times, then the problem was with the OTHER (currently running PC'S), do this until you have it down to one PC that was causing the problem.
find out what the process is that is running.
run microsoft windows task manager and show all processes BUT microsoft processes.
you will see a process that is similar, if not identical, to FC Print Track, you will need to kill it off. Their cause was they had someone come in to service one of his xerox copiers, the tech put a program on the PC to track the amount of toner the copier used, this is what was causing the errors on the okidata printers. Contact the copier repair person and have them uninstall the software that was put on.
