Question about Honda Electrical Supplies

1 Answer

It will start on full choke and run for about 5 seconds and shuts off. I changed oil because it was black. It did same thing a year ago and shop said the fuel line was blocked? I ran it for about 25 minutes today and it then quit and would not run for more than 5 seconds after lengthy cranking. Is there a reset procedure after changing oil? THANKS

First if its a honda,is it a gas/oil mix as the gas/oil mix plugs up quicker than a 4 cycle engine ?even 4 cycle engines that get bad gas i.e. water in the gas will plug up the carburator from rust, white rust(from water minerals) corrosion, dirt, etc.,when its running and just as it dies out, pull out the choke and see if it picks back up in r.p.m.'s,if it does, then you know its lacking fuel from starvation from plugged fuel lines/carb to keep running, then you need to re-build the carburator or you could first try a can of carb cleaner while its running down into the carburators intake, but this is a tell-tale sign of a bad/dirty carb, try this, with a small wrench, pull off the carburarors "sediment bowl" located just ubder the carbs body and carefully unscrew the brass nut and remove this bowl(careful to NOT lose the gasket) and see how moch water/dirt,etc., is in the bowl if theres water it will look like droplets in the gas in there,if you have this contamination you need to clean out both the gas tank and carburator and all fuel lines leading to and from these to the engine

I was using my o17 saw today it was runing Just fine I shut it off when I went to start it again it fired on choke seting after that I could not get it to do anything what is wrong with it

All 2-strokes love to run rich when cold thus full choke till it kicks, half choke to start and leave on for 5 seconds high rev's to warm & lubricate, then no choke to run. Restart when hot is 1 pull full choke (you are now flooded) & then no choke til it starts. Try it. Works every time on all of my 2-stroke engines.

change the oil to the correct specification first. As the engine runs the heat changes the viscosity and overheats or trips the oil alert switch. If its over 10 years old change the oil alet magnetic switch

Weedwacker -purchased more than a year ago, never been able to start it. Lost owner's manual - can I get a copy on line?

Should be able to google model #. Make sure you have a 40:1 fuel oil mix. Pump primer bulb 4-5 times, put on full choke, when attempts to start set choke to half. After it starts open choke. If won't start and has been sitting for months with fuel in it, the carb is more than likley gummed up.If you paide less than $100.00 for it it is not worth having it repaired at a shop. You can although purchase a new carb at eparts, or sears parts direct for around $ 30.00. Just need the model#. Good luck.

I cant start my leaf blower

I would suggest a new plug and fresh gas and oil mix.push the primer bulb 8-10 times and turn choke to full.pull cord about 4 or 5 times until it starts.if it don,t stay running turn choke to half and pull cord until starts should stay running.let run for about 10 seconds then turn off choke.Almost forgot that during this whole process you hold throttle wide open.

Brand new Honda Generator 2000i will not start. uhhg

Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly.

Things that must be verified.

1. Fuel selector: ON
2. Start run sw: ON
3. Oil Level : Full
4. Choke selector FULL ON for no more than 2 pulls initially The half choke then off
5. Spark at the Spark Plug YES? NO?
a. No spark suspect low oil level sensor is grounding the ignition either due to low oil level or it just is not working properly.

After doing all of the above...

Spark Plug WET or DRY? Dry and still won't start check fuel supply. If you use the choke with the start run switch in the off position the spark plug should get WET. Spark plug does not get wet... with choke on and ignition off. Fuel supply problem.

At this point I suspect either the Oil Level is incorrect or... that the FUEL SELECTOR is OFF.

If you need more help just respond here and we can press on.

Thanks for choosing FixYa

I don't know how much oil i need for an oil change

With oil filter you'll need 5 quarts. After changing oil and filter run briefly and check for leaks. Shut down the engine and check oil level is correct.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Honda em2500 starts, runs 1 minute, quits and will not restart

If the oil level is low it will do this, but I also know this to happen when the oil is very cold (thick) an won't fow back own o the crankcase where the oil sensor is. The slow return results in a low oil level. My solution is to start it, when it dies wait a couple of minutes and retry... after a few starts, the oil will warm up, thus flowing back down faster and it then will run. Another option is to use a thinner oil ie;5-30w.

Stihl KM 55 won't start

1. 1st change the spark plug to NGK BPMR 7A.
2. Set the kill switch to on position (I)
3. lock the throttle interlock on
4. Do not prime the fuel bulb...this may cause flooding.
5. set the choke to full choke.
6. pull the cord gently until the piston resists then pull hard
7. repeat pull a second time
8. open choke all the way
9. pull cord again hard.
engine should start within 2-3 pulls, release throttle and feather the throttle until stable
