If you have a wireless computer operating properly on your network already, then you can download this utility.

Once downloaded onto your computer, install the program and run it.
It will pop up a little screen and you will the option to "Start."
Press start and let it do it's little scan (it's very quick).
When it finishes, click on Advanced Tools.
On the Adcanced Tools page on the right side you will see a button named "Retrieve WPA/WEP Key" click on that.

If you do not have a wireless comptuer already on your network then you will have to login to your router and navigate to the Wireless/Wireless Security page and copy down the WPA or WEP key that is there.

To login to your router you must type the IP Address of the router into the address bar of a web browser such as Internet Explorer, FIrefox, Chrome, etc.

If you do not know the IP Address of your router then you must go into command prompt to retrieve it.

On a computer that is plugged into the router by an ethernet cable, go to Start and click on Run, in the Run window type CMD and press enter. In Vista or Windows 7, go to the Start Orb and type CMD into the search bar, then select command prompt from the popup menu.

Now that you're in command prompt, type IPCONFIG and press enter.
Look for Default Gateway and write down the IP Address that is the right of it (that is your router's IP Address).

Now that you have typed your router's IP Address into the address bar of a web browser, the login window for your router should have popped up.
At this point type in your login information. If you have never made any changes to the login information then it should still be the default.

Username = admin
Password = password
(this is the default login information for the NetGear WGR614, if you actually have a different router then go to this website for the default login information for your router

What is my wpa key number

A WPA passphrase is a user selected password for your wireless network. It must be the same on the router and any connecting devices, and you need to be sure that the format matches (wpa or wpa-2 and psk or tkip) . The exact meaning of all of this alphabet soup is less important than the fact that all of these parameters match.

Can not find WPA number to connect with internet a PS3

This is a cut and paste but it saves me time typing.
Find the Netgear router's WPA code on its setup page. Access the setup page by typing "" into your Web browser's address bar and pressing "Enter." If that number doesn't work, try "" instead. Type "admin" as the username and provide your router's password. Use "password" if you haven't set a custom password. Click "Wireless Settings" at the left side of the setup page and read the WPA code from the passphrase box on the page.

Is the PIN on the bottom of the router the same as the WEP or WPA?

WEP or WPA are the types of wireless security. If your wireless network is secured then there will be a password on the network that is called as wireless network key or passphrase ( WEP or WPA key ). PIN number is different than WEP or WPA.
To check the wireless network key ( WEP / WPA) you will need to access the router settings page.
On that page , you will find all the settings of the router.

What is WEP and WPA encryption

WEP is like a clear connection with no encryption only to get this connection you need to enter key number and password.
WPA is more like encrypted connection and to that also you shall enter key number and password.

In today's wireliss connection speed there's no differences and you better use WEP since they got less connectivity problems
