Question about Samsung CLP 300 Laser Printer

Samsung CLP-300 Printer

When I print a document, it is very faint on the left hand side of the page. This only happens with black - I have tried changing the toner cartridge, but it has made no difference. Can you tell me how I can clean the print heads, or if there are any other options I can try.

    My printouts have a faint streak from top to bottom near the center of the documents. The black ink is faded, in particular. I've tried taking the imaging unit out and cleaning the inside of the printer. I've also tried emptying the waste toner container. I still have the same problem, and I can't find any information on how to clean the print heads.

    The back print is very faint. I have emptied the waste tone and put in a new black cartridge, tried bold print, tried fine print, still the same problem.

    I have the same problem with the left hand side not being dark enough. The printer seems to be running hot and there is a high pitched noise coming from it when it prints something. I have taken the insides out and cleaned out the pocket on the left. What else can I do? framer100

    I have de same problem. I replaced de black toner and the problem didn't solve. I think the problem isn´t related to need to clean anything. Only happen with the blank ink, always the same hand side and, in my case, suddenly.

    I have purchased a new Samsung printer CLP 300.

    Barely three months of use I find that the lef side of print is faded.

    Despite cleaning the printer and changing ink it has not solved the problem.

    I am in touch with my supplier for a full refund.

    Looks like this is a common problem with this model.

    We have the same problem, the left hand side of any black print is faint. Colour printing works acceptably well over the whole page though.

    I have a new LCP-300 and a new toner cartridge. I get a faint
    streak on the left side of the page when printing in black. On
    color prints, it seems even.

    Any suggestions?

    Same as others, only a few months old all toner replaced, cleaned unit with compressed air and it still has a faint streak down the left side of the paper and the faint streak is getting larger

    on the left hand side the print appears very faint. Have tried installing a new black cartridge, still no joy, what do you suggest apart from getting a new printer !!!! as this has been happening for a long while now, and cannot get

    any answers from Samsung web site.

    Same here. This is hardly a "solution," but since I can't find my receipt, I've been changing my text to dark Blue or Brown on stuff I print, when I'm able to (eg. Word or PPT documents, forwarded emails, etc), which gives me a nice printout (just not in the original black text).

    5 months old CLP 300 printer is printing faint on left side only of document but with black toner only. Other colors are crisp and bright.

    Same problem... Out of the box it was perfect. Qualitylevel black printing lasted about 4 or 5 months. Then in what appeared to me to be a "low toner" issue, fading appeared on the page. FYI - Symptoms are severely faded toner area down the entire page about 25% in from the left / center of the page... I changed the (black) toner cartridge (several times) - no difference - still same faced area. I also emptied the toner overflow. Still no difference. Color printing seems to work fine and not impacted by this problem at this point. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? 8/20/08 - Tom H.

    I have had the CLP-300 for three months, its my second one actually. Just yesterday the I noticed that the left side does not print black well. I replaced the toner, but still having the same problem.

    The left side of the page is faded in both black & in color.  Plenty of ink and we cleaned out the toner box.

    Black is patchy and fades to grey tones on the left hand side. All other colours are OK. Fitted new toner with no improvement (using a test page of pure colours). cleaned insides as per the manual with no improvement at all. Hopless for printing photos - not very good for printing text. Any ideas from users or Samsung? Printer is only 6 months old!

    My black is fine, but the colour changes on the left third ... it seems the magenta doesn't go there ... and the magenta also used up a lot faster than the other colours, too! It's like the magenta isn't getting to the left of the transfer matrix at all ... and maybe too much is getting to the right hand side. Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem with the clp-310. I bought it only a few weeks ago, and know the left hand side of all the pages I print are very faint, even with color!! Is there any solutions apart from that to change the image unit? Thanks

    Left side prints lighter than the right. Seems to be the black only. Time to get a new printer. Bummer.

    Yes, the same problem. Is this printer faulty by design? Should we ask Samsung for our money back?

I went through this when I first got mine. It was one of the first ones to come out and I went back and forth through several printers before the found the imaging unit issue.

Now mine is doing it again. I do have pretty heavy use so I don't know what the life of the imaging unit is supposed to be.

This is a manufacturing defect. Call Samsung at 1-866-726-4249 and explain the problem. They will replace your imaging unit free although you will most likely need to provide a credit card for them to hold until they receive the defective unit back from you.

Fading of black ink down the left side. Samsung sent me a new Imaging Unit (the main "guts") inside the printer and the problem went away... for about 3 weeks. The problem reoccurred and Samsung just shipped me yet another Imaging Unit. Since it's less than 1 yr old the replacement units were free.

    Just installed the second Imaging Unit that Samsung sent me. Prints fine now. I'm not holding my breath though, since it only took a couple weeks last time for the problem to reoccur. I also noticed that the "new" Imaging Unit they just sent me was a used unit, so I'm speculating they go through a lot of these ... returning and refurbishing them... and this might be a common problem with the clp 300.

I have 1 year old samsung CLP-300 is not heavily used... it has been working just fine until a few days ago when it began jamming. the paper gets wrinkled upand then stuck...I have followed the 3 different directions for jamming in the users guide and this did not fix the problem...i have concluded it must be something to do with the rollers that feed the paper thru but there is no instructions for doing anything with the rollers besides taking it to a service center...which could possibly be almost half the cost of the printer ..any advise?

I reported the problem to Samsung (0845 726 7864), and they sent me a new image unit . . . that fixed it!

Just recently my CLP-300 printer is giving me poor quality documents. Some portions of the type are OK but there are bands of pale print running down the sheet. I have tried all of the suggested ways of improving the printout -- new ink cartriges. Cleaning the inside of the printer. Checking the paper (it is 75gsm from Woolworths). Still the problem persists. I have had the printer for a year and a half and it is seldom used. In total I have printed 3900 mono and 1124 colour pages since I had the printer. Any suggestions please? Could there be a problem with the imaging unit although the handbook says that it needs replacing after 10-15,000 pages at least.

Our Laser printer doesn't print on the left had side of the paper--well, very faint--the right side is just fine. I just replaced the cartridge. What is the problem?

If your printer prints like this:
657b300.jpg with the any color printing faintly down the page, then the problem is with the developer blades in the imaging unit. What happens is there are metal blades that meter the amount of toner that gets put on to the drum that makes the image on the paper. The toner is made up of fine particules of plastic. As the printer prints, some of this toner collects on the edge of the developer blades causing less and less toner to make it onto the page making the print look faint.

To correct this problem, you either need to buy a new imaging unit or clean the developer blades. There is a document on the internet that gives a detail instructions on how to do this, but, the link no longer works. I have a copy of this document, I will try to post it if people are interested.

Spend a little time searching the topic on google and even this post. It appears that this has been a well documented problem since at least early 2008. The problem appears to be the imaging unit. According to several posts, Samsung has replaced several of the units. I purchased my CLP-300 in November 2008 and it worked with no problems until about 8 months in. The black text would print very lightly on the left side of the page about 1/4 of the way into the page. There was also a streak that ran down the page vertically that disrupted the text. I could change the font to any color and it would print just fine. After replacing several toner cartridges, I just began to print in a dark color for many months. After discovering all the posts on the internet this week, I contacted Samsung today with my documentation and evidence. They basically blew me off stating that I was outside of the 1 year warranty period and there was nothing they could do. I was even hung up on by a Samsung employee named Michael. Tonight I plan to take a hammer to it to relieve a little frustration. I cannot understand why Samsung chooses to ignore this well documented problem. Good luck.

If it only happens with the black then you need to change out the black toner cartridge. The good news is isn't doesn't happen with color so it more than likely not the printer but the toner.

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I don't have 20000 images it is about 7000 and I have a document to show you if you are handy.
