You need to install the driver and software from Manufactures website of the scanner.

This is a common failure on this model, usually happens with the main driver motor fails. Replacement requires removal of the scanner assembly;

Scanner drivers not installed properly. Reinstall from cd or download.

This printer is under HP Warranty until Mar 23, 2011
Contact Hewlett Packard for Warranty repair.
2 parts need to be replaced at the same time (Scanner & Formatter)

HPM2727mfp - Scanner Error 5 - Scanner Error 8

These errors indicate a problem with the flatbed scanner assembly. The flatbed is no longer able to initialize or find home position. The scanner may move back and forth continually and the light flicker at a high rate of speed. The flatbed scanner will need to be serviced/changed. The part required is CB532-67905

Call HP tech support and claim your warranty, it is known issue and they take ownership, real good service!!! Problem is with the printer´s main board (formatter)
