The player will read dvd but will not play cd

Richard: This is what EHow.com said: "
  • Turn on the DVD player. It generally takes a few seconds to get going. Take out the DVD if there's one in the drive already.
  • 2 Make sure the disc isn't scratched or dirty. Use a soft rag to clean the disc if you see any smudges. Insert the CD into the DVD player's disc drive and close it.
  • 3 Press the "Play" button on the DVD player or remote control. Some DVD players will begin reading the disc automatically. Pushing the button works just as well.
  • 4 Use the "Scene Selection" buttons on your remote to select a track. Some DVD players have odd ways of ordering the buttons on the remote. You might have to play around a bit before you find all the right buttons to work the CD playing function of your machine.
  • 5 Crank it up and enjoy your music. The DVD player will act just like a CD player and play the tracks of the CD through the TV.

My dvd player tray does'nt open when it should and when i insert a disc to play, it only plays for a few seconds then it stops but the disc continues to spin

    Hello
The laser pickup unit of your DVD player may either be faulty or dusty. Just put in a cleaning disc into it and play it for at least three times, and check. If it does not help you, the laser pickup unit of your device should be replaced with same type and number. Just check the loading belt too. OK.

When I go to play a dvd, a clicking noise is heard and the movie will stop playing. With some dvds I cannot play them all as the noise begins immediately. What can I do???

Sounds like the laser head that reads the disk is getting lost and trying to search for the track. This is often caused by a dirty laser head or dirty disks, try using a cleaner disk (available at Wal-Mart or just about anywhere) Follow the package instructions and clean the laser head see if that cures it.

When playing a DVD, picture & audio stop for a second one a while, no problem when playing a CD

this may just be the mechanism changing diretion as it reads the second layer on the disc usually because the film is too long to go on one side of the dvd disc.
    quite normal.
but if happening quite a lot during playing a film then it could be something as simple as cleaning the mechanism. NOT for the untrained

    Problem with original dvd

Before performing any operations, make sure of the following: ? Check the connection with the TV. ? Turn on the TV and select the correct input on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen indications on the TV screen. ? For DVD playback, you can change the Setup menu setting to your preference menu... DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-I, (CD-I Ready), Photo CD, etc. Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. * Note on Region Code DVD players and DVD Video discs have their own Region Code numbers.
