Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I was just kind of chilling on my laptop most of the day. And it kept like running outta battery like it normally kinda does every now and again. I kept it plugged in most of the day but it wouldn't always say it was plugged in which is why it was turning off. After a few times of doing that I knew something was wrong and one the last times it turned off the power button was flashing red and orange. As I was looking for reasons why it was doing that the computer died for good. Now it won't turn on and I don't have much of a clue. My brother says that the area that you plug in the charger to is probably bent or it became disconnected partly from the laptop. I think that is the problem or something is wrong with the charger. Any ideas? It's a 4630z ACER extensa if that helps any.

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.

  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

Cannot diagnose or run temp. Sealer for what i believe is head blown because car wont start it cranks but sputters and kills battery?

Sounds like head gasket again, but may be more serious this time. Overheating is not something to take lightly.

Pull plugs. crank. Water come out of cylinders? Head gasket. Possible cracked block or head this time, too. I'd be looking at a replacement engine.

Compaq F572US won't start (led turns on, but nothing happens)

I have been having the same problem. At first I thought that the motherboard was fried and the laptop was a paper weight, but I kept it plugged in and kept pressing the power button several times over the days. It would always seem to start (screen remained off/black) and then it would just go off again in seconds. But persevarence has paid off, finally almost after a week it started up like normal and started working again as normal. I then had the same episode repeat a few weeks later, the computer was useless for a few days and again started up as I kept pressing the power button several times a day.

I believe the problem is with the standby mode. Each time the problem happened, it seems like the computer was going into standby mode and the power button was pressed again before it could competely go into standby or the button was pressed again while it was coming out of standby.

To sum it up, nothing is wrong with the cimputer components, there is some problem with the standby routine. Keep pressing the power button and hopefully you can get lucky in getting the computer to start again. Long term, I am thinking about checking whether there was a new flash update that came out that could fix this problem. I purchased the laptop compaq F72US in 2008 and never updated anything. Also worth noting that I called HP and they didn't stand behind their product.

Mouse and Keyboard not working properly

You say that the computer works in safe mode. This indicates that there is probably something running that is interfering with your mouse and keyboard.
Run MSCONFIG from the command line and go to the startup tab. Disable all the items and restart in normal mode. See if that makes an improvement. If it does, then you can go into MSCONFIG and re-enable stuff as needed until you find the one program/utililty that is messing things up.
As for the battery, if you unplug the computer, does it keep running? If so, the battery is probably OK. If it stops, you need a new battery. If the battery is fairly new, then you might have a different problem, but let's try this other stuff first.

1999 grand cherokee jeep -coolant fan will not shut off

Hi Jeepers,

The fan will occassionally continue to run for five or ten minutes after the vehicle shuts down. This is normal.

What is not normal is if it keeps running until the battery drains.

Does it just keep running?
If it eventually shuts off, how long does it take?
Did this just start happening?
The two days you mentioned, were they short trips, opposed to the third day?

If you would comment me back with some more details, it would help me help you.

Hybernation?? HELP!

hey, its kinda hard to tell exactly without seeing the laptop, but if you could try this, its a common problem with alot of laptop batterys.
remove the battery from the laptop, usually a switch on the bottom of laptop to remove the battery.
and try running the laptop off the mains without the battery in,
alot of the time that can fix the problem if its a faulty battery.
let me know how you get on,

John
