Question about Ulead Videostudio 8 for PC

1 Answer

I have got Easycap 2.0 and a video player connected to my laptop computer running Windows Vista. However all I see in the window where the video output is supposed to be is my webcam. I am guessing it has to do with changing options or preferences somewhere, but I don't know where. I have looked on the Ulead movie maker program, but cannot find any there. Also I don't know if I have drivers installed -It was not possible to do this from the setup CD -it appears this is a common problem.. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Pieter

You have to go into hardware device manager driver menu in the control panel and find your internal laptop webcam in the list and temporarailly disable it. (dont click uninstall just disable) Then the ezcap usb camera input will work. I did this on HP9000 series laptop with internal camera and vista. When you done using the usb cam input go back to the hardware device manager and enable your internal cam again.

good luck

you also have to install the video drivers that came on the cd with the ezcap.

How to install easy cap on windows 7

From Amazon website "This EasyCap Model (DC60) is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista 32-bit ONLY".

So it is not compatible with Windows 7.

Windows7 64bit & EasyCap directions

In my experience with the Easycap software the quality of sound & vision is very poor. My recommendation is as follows:
1) Use windows movie maker instead to capture video.Use the 2M byte/sec capture rate. Make sure the box for "make video clips" is NOT selected - you probably don't want your vid chopped into little bits.
2) In my experience USB audio is rubbish on these devices, so instead connect your PC or laptop audio LINE IN to your sound source. Don't forget to set sound source in RECORDING section of Control Panel Sound devices to Line In instead of your Easycap (which the Easycap drivers would have preset it to by default).
Good Luck.

Hi, Ihave an easycao usb 2.0 and windows xp. And the drivers doesn't work. I need good drivers. Thanks

From what I can research on the DekCell EasyCap, the requirements for the deice may require USB 2.0, and not be backward compatible with USB 1.1.

Please check your computer to see if you have USB 2.0.

You can check this by clicking on the "Control Panel:, then "System" or "Devie Manager" then look at the list, the last one should be USB, double click on USB and it will tell you if you have USB 2.0.

If not, there are add on cards that can be install if you have a spare PCI slot on your computer to provide 2 or 4 ports of USB 2.0

If you have USB 2.0, and presuming you have XP, if you have Vista or Windows 7, the DekCell EasyCap manufacturer may not have compatible drivers for the unit for Vista or Windows 7.

Good Luck

Have EasyCap video capture device and vista x86

I have windows vista and my drivers load fine. Plug in the unit and the drivers load. I have the 4 camera easycap and the VCR easycap. Install drivers first before plugging in the unit. Restart computer, plug in unit, check device manager if there is a stk1150 loaded under image. My problem is getting small files from the recordings. I converted 2 mins of my daughters dance solo and it turned out 1.7gb AVI file without sound. Changing the options to mpeg or WV files will crash the program becuase something doesn't match. I need to play with it more to understand it better.
