Prior to seeing the Microsoft page you should see a page with maybe the Acer logo. At the bottom of that page it will have an option of pressing an "F" key located at the top of your keyboard. One of these option may be to allow you to enter the system recovery function of you computer. BEWARE: by entering the system recovery you will be given options of restoring your computer to a previous recovery point or it will allow you to go to recovery mode offering you to recover and reformat your hard drive. I doing so this will erase everything that you have added and restore the computer to the original "out of box" state. Usually it is the F10 or the F9 key. The other option would be to run the recovery discs that may or may not have come with the computer. Windows XP offers user a one time option of creating these recovery discs from the start-programs-accessories-system tools.
