Question about Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television
You can send the main board to us to get it fixed.
We are 99.9% successful (for this particular problem) and do not charge any service fees if we see a problem and fail to resolve.
You will always pay shipping to and from us ($11 or so in each direction) and as I said if we fail to fix the board that is all you will pay, if you want the board back, of course.
if successful it's about $60 total.
Go http://www.coppelltvrepair.com and search for the TV model or, better yet, for the board number which is on a white label somewhere on the board and usually starts with "3642", e.g.
If you can't find a listing for repair of your board contact us - I am positive we service those.
Hope that helps!

It is possible that it was hit by a small power surge and has some garbage in the processor and if you unplug the set from the wall for 40 MIN.,then it should reset back to normal,if it still doing the same thing then you have power supply problems, and the easiest way to fix that is buy a new power supply.
