Question about Emerson Pool & Spa

1 Answer

Hello, I have an Emerson Spa Pump Motor ( 2 HP, 230v, 3450 rpm). The motor has model R610867, cat 7610, sf 1.3 on it. It also has "1081 motor" on the label. I am tring to find a replacement start capacitor for it. Unfortunately, the part number on the old capacitor is rusted and unreadable for the most part. Do you have any information to identify this pump or can you identify a capacitor that will work with it based on it's specs? Appreciate your help!!

Should be a 30, you can have the old one tested it might be good ? I write the value on the back and side for future reference to avoid this problem as the value is normally not stated on the motor's label like is done on air conditioning motors. search your area for your LOCAL POOL PUMP MOTOR REPAIR GUY WITH FREE TESTING

Diagram for aosmith motor b381 is here: http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/IMAGES/B381_connection.htm

However, I believe that this motor will be more efficient at 230v depending on load conditions. At 115v this motor will draw more amps and tend to run hot, but situation rules. Enjoy

On the motors I deal with there is a series of numbers that identify the shaft size, hp and all other requirements. I would try and contact a local Grainger and see if they can help, if not try in the yellow pages for a motor repair shop in your area and sometimes they can get you one. Good luck

There is no polarity associated with the leads in an AC system. You simply have 2 hot wires and you can hook either one to either Line 1 or Line 2. Motor rotation is not dictated by the connection arrangement of these leads. Ground the motor with the grounding wire and again with the bond wire if one is present.

You can remove the riser that is positioned under the motor to allow for a 56 size stator to fit in place of the 48 size stator the original Hayward (AOSmith) motor was.

You may need to break an air lock. The pump is at the bottom of the system so you can bleed the air out by just opening the drain valve till you get water out of it, just a few seconds. That should get you going.

The bi-metal motor overheat protection switch is internal and it is activating probably with or without the ground fault interrupt they prevent electrocution and other devastation, do not modify anything. Do not hesitate, seek a very experienced pool electrician, NOW.

Emerson pool spa pump leaking water-how to change gaskets

Emerson is not the name of the pump, that's the brand of the motor attached to the wet end, and the two together make a pump.
1081/1563 only means that it meets the standards for a pool motor.
provide make and model, for your pump.

I don't know the answer to this ... your pool service company can advise you. To my way of thinking, you are asking a lot of a 3/4 horse. I have a 1 1/2 horse lifting water in a two inch pipe about 4 feet to my water feature with no reservoir.

Since you have a two inch pipe, why not run a bigger motor? I have two HP on all my filtered lines which are 2" suction and 2" discharge.

Are you absolutely sure you have suction? ... and no air leaks on the suction side?
