Question about Sony LMD-1410 14" LCD Monitor

Open Question

I 'm looking to buy a Sony LMD screen for Y/C or Composite entry, because the same screen from Neovo Y/C or composite signal gives black and white image when connected to a medical Mitsubishi printer. Neovo Germany says it's a bug and cannot change it. Does you know if the Sony LMD screen has the same problem when connected to a medical Mitsubishi CP710 (Y/C or composite) printer ? Thanks in advance

SOURCE: SDM M51 major problem

Based on your post/description, the "fizzling noise and a smell of ozone" are indicators of electronic component(s) that burned. Should you be comfortable and have a fair knowledge of component level repair, soldering and the use of a VOM then it is possible to repair it yourself. The inside would basically be divided into 3 electronic group; 1. power supply; 2. video; and 3. illumination. This should be fairly straight forward since the "fizzling noise and a smell of ozone" indicators would also be visually apparent. Fizzling would normally be capacitors leaking their oil at high temp/high pressure. this would probably be in the power supply section (but the other 2 groups have their own capacitors also). Smell of ozone would usually come from high voltage arcing which is only present in the inverter circuitry of the illumination. It is the group responsible for supplying the high voltage high frequency supply of the small fluorescent tube (CCF) that provides the backlight of the display panel. As earlier mentioned, it has also its own capacitors. If for some reason you do not feel comfortable opening and working the electronics inside, you might be better off seeking the services of a qualified professional. Good luck and kind regards. Hope this gives you and idea and how to go about it.

SOURCE: Connecting old DVD player to LCD

Just respect the colors. Green output from the dvd to green input tv, Red output from the dvd to red input tv and the same with blue. All 3 cables (green , red, blue) are for the picture, so you got to plug another 2 for the sound.

SOURCE: Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

I just posted this to another Sony owner:

Another point; HD Ready does not mean that it is HD compatible without the addition of an optional part.
The title only implies that it can be adapted to HD reception.
If you did not purchase it with the set, check your user guide to see what you need to make it whole.
You may have to seek this add-on on eBay since it is not guaranteed that Sony will still offer it.

You might want to check this:

SOURCE: hook up of dvd to tv

hey I think you need to use component cables blue green red from the player to the tv, make sure the blue green red ports are also on the tv, note: red yellow white composite cable will not interchange with blue green red component cable or connection.

simplify- blue green red= component
red white yellow=composite

*wires must match colors on both tv and player inputs.

then set your input on your tv to where you conected the cable.

How to connect hdmi to composite

Normally you cannot connect hdmi signal to a composite input as the signals are totally different. HDMI is a digital signal and composite is analog. You may have to buy an adapter like the one shown below but the video quality will suffer. HDMI is very high resolution image and composite video is very low quality in comparison.

Configuring a Sony STRDH510 - 3 HDMI & 1 composite input

Is the composite/analog signal going into the same input as one of the hdmi's? i.e. DVD,BD, etc.? If so, the receiver can only look at one of those signals at a time. To use two different signal types going into the same function, you will have to manually select where you want the receiver to look - either hdmi, analog, optical, etc. The receiver defaults to auto-selecting which signal to look at, and will always look for a hdmi signal if one is available.

ELMO Visual Presenter (Model EV-2000AF) does NOT display COLOR properly onto HDTV monitor. (Appears Bluish or Reddish w/ 2 Composite Cables connected)

Those jacks you are plugging into on the HDTV are not composite inputs. They are component. The reason the color is not right is, you have to have a Red, Green and Blue connection.

The black and white picture from the 1 cable is because you are using a composite signal into a component green.

Big difference between a composite and a component signal. I hope this helps.

How can i play ps2 on lcd without having a black and white screen ? how can i connect the cables ?.....when i look at the back of my lcd i find three ports (red white yellow) when i use them the screen is...

1) The set of input (Yellow= Composite video, Red= Right channel audio, White= Left channel audio). This set of input is for composite video.

2) The set of input (Red= Red video signal, Green= Green video signal + sync, Blue= Blue signal, Red= Right channel audio, White = Left channel audio (the Red and White will be grouped close together). This set of input is used for Component video for HD signal.

You should try using composite video source (Yellow RCA jack) from DVD player and feed to the monitor and see if it works OK with all color showing that way we acn find out if it is the video source problem or the monitor video signal processing problem. Try the PS2 on the TV if it works OK also.

I hook up my cables into the second and third video plugs and all i get is black and white screen but in the first plug on video 1 its color

Video1 is likely composite video, and left/right audio.
Videos 2 and 3 are likely YPbPr so your composite signal comes out monochrome!

Yellow is a composite output and should be plugged into a composite input, whereas Y indicates the COMPONENT input of the TV. If you don't have a separate composite input use a scart to phono (rca) adapter in your tv's scart input.

I've connected my new Sony Blue-Ray Disk Player to my RCA F25645 TV via the three (Red, White, Yellow) composite cables but the screen only says "unusable signal" and will not display the Blue...

The output from the blu-ray is probably component video, where the brightness, blue and red difference signals are the three outputs. Sounds like the TV only has composite video input so won't work. Check the manuals, if you can get a composite signal from the blu-ray then your TV will display it but not high definition. A HD LCD or plasma TV is needed to show the blu-ray films in high definition.

Connect ps3 to a non HD tv and picture only black and white?

Are you connecting it to a new SD tv after having been connected to an HD set? You can force the system to reset the video resolution settings by pressing and holding the On/Off button after the system has already turned on. I believe it is ~5-10sec. You will hear another beep after the initial startup beep. This will reset video setting to default and go through the resolution setup wizard again.

However, it is also possible that you are trying to connect a component cable to a composite tv. They are VERY different signals even though the cables fit interchangeably. If you use the Green component cable for video on a composite tv you will only see a grayscale image of the picture. This is most likely your issue. If this is the case you will need to buy a composite cable for the PS3 (the PS2 one is the exact same as the PS3 one.)

FYI Component cable has Red, Green, & Blue cables. Composite has Yellow (Video), White (Left Audio), Red (Right Audio). Both are normal RCA type plugs and will fit in each others plugs, but the signals are VERY different.

Is this dell compatible

If your video card outputs Analog Composite, Y/C, Analog RGB and Analog Component Signals, then yes.

These are more like monitors you would find at a TV station for monitoring video feeds and the such, not so much for gaming or PC use.
